I think that the wearing of fur is just one of those things that we have to agree to disagree on. Everyone has their own opinion.
Anyways, hopefully we all agree that we are interested in the royals. Here are some pictures of them in fur ...

All of these pictures are taken from the January 15 2005 funeral of Luxembourg’s Grand Duchess Josephine-Charlotte.

Eh. I'm not really worried about fur either way. Some ladies carry it off very well (Beatrix and Anne Marie), and others...not so much....(Sorry MT)! lol

I think that is a personal decison as well and that such decisions have nothing to do with age. Many individuals of various ages feel the same way about many things. Social awareness in my opinion, has very little to do with animals. People (actual human beings) form societies, not animals. People have pets and they do serve as companions, but they hardly make this thing that we call the world go round.

I have never personally been appalled by seeing anyone wearing fur. I simply do not believe that animals and their suffering is equal to that of human beings. When I see someone wearing a dead human being, then I'll have a problem.

good for Prince laurent!!
That is interesting, because I could almost swear that Claire wore fur when she attended the funeral of Grand Duchess Josephine Charlotte. I am not expert, but it didn't appear to be faux fur either. It was only a bit a trim and not a full jacket, but it looked real to me.

It is hideous. It is really too big for such a petite woman and the hair is too long. I don't know how many furs Alexandra owns, but I am referring to the one that she was first given when she moved to Denmark. That's the one that she wears most often. I am guessing that is the same one that you are talking about, and it is ugly. She wore it this past winter at an event that the entire family attended and it didn't look as bad it had in past photos most likely because the dress that the she wore with it was more simple. But, it is still one of the more unattractive furs that I have ever seen.

I disagree. I think Alexandra looks incredibly elegant in her fur. I olve to see real furon royals. It adds to the magic and elegance of royal ladies.

This might get me some criticism - but if I had the choice whether to look at fur on an animal or an elegant Royal lady I know I'd rather see it on Mette Marit, Mary or the Countess of Wessex!

Princess Michael wears fur so well. Some women don't, but it makes her look very imperial.

Indeed, some are against the use of fur & some are for it. Personally, I am ALL for it.

I adore it and would love to see more of it used, especially on HRH the Crown Princess Mary who looks absolutely stunning in mink.

For those who are against the use of fur, I respect your point of views greatly. But I do not share them.

Here Here! A Princess should look suitably regal - stick her in furs and diamonds and she'll capture the hearts of the world. You can't dress royalty in polyester suits and floppy hats.

Ok! when I saw this thread I thought I would just leave it alone to save an argument, but after reading everyone's opinions I must add my comment too.

I understand that you are talking about the look of fur, and the supposed regal air it can give people (especially royalty), but to give the animal rights advocates a mention (I'm a very dedicated animal rights protestor), I must say anyone who believes that wearing fur is a decent thing to do is very mistaken.

The way animals are tortured for their fur is barbaric and something I could never just stand-by and allow to happen without protest. If you knew how the fur is taken like I do, maybe you would have a much different opinion.

And, for those dedicated to fur-wearing, I must say there are some very realistic faux-fur coats, ect. if you know where to look.
