I loooooooooooooooooooooooooooove the purple Julian MacDonald gown (it was designed by him right?). She looks just smashing in deep purple. It livens up her porcelain complexion and chesnut locks.

The one Mary wore in New York of 2005? That's actually Alexander McQueen.

Thanks Carlota for this wonderful idea. I've added a poll to the thread, however since the poll allows only 25 questions, I used Carlota's first 25 suggestions.
Have fun!

This is such a difficult question- almost all of Mary's gala gowns are fantastic! Since I was forced to choose only one, I chose the silver gown she wore for her engagement dinner. That whole outfit worked for me- the dress, the makeup, the parure, combined with Mary's natural elegance- stunning.
I also loved the purple and grape gown she wore last New Years, while pregnant with Isabella, the red dress she wore in Australia, the blue dress from Australia, the red velvet maternity dress, and there were probably a couple more I gushed about at one time or another.
The only ones I really don't love are the green dress she wore during the Luxembourg state visit (just not flattering), the black dress she wore to the opera in Norway (not as pretty as the rest), and that grayish-mauve sheathe tank dress she continues to drag out even though the color doesn't do her any good.

I know, I can only choose one!! I choose the turquoise one shoulder gown she has worn about 4 times. She wore it during her engagement period. I loved it when she piled her hair ontop her head and wore her two strand pearl chocker. It was so chic!
I also like the blue evening dress she wore in Australia and recently at a state banquet for a SA country. She had a potrait painted in it.
I also like the red dress with the drape across the front she wore in Australia, very beautiful.
I also like the purple Sari dress.
I'm not to keen on the ones she wore when she was pregnant. But the great thing about those is they can be reworked and worn again.

Some great gala gowns. Im not too sure if the Carolina Herrera skirt & top is considered as a gala gown.
I'd love to see which gown gets the most votes because most of them are lovely.
I'd also like to see her repeat some gowns such as #3, 4, 9, 13, 17 & 21
Not to keen on the following dresses #1, 5 & 10

my favourite is turquoise gown she wore on her engagement dinner; she looks really good in this colour and I really like this dress :)
I'd like also silver-white gown from wedding gala.

Many thanks for this wonderful collection carlota. I don't like all of them but at least 3/4 are simply fabulous and prove a terrific taste. As I can only vote for one dress I go for the turquoise gown (#2) - wonderful!

I'm surprised no one likes the light purple dress. I think it's quite elegant and I love the little jacket that goes with it.
