Great thread Mandy! :flower:

You really start to notice how much beading, embroidery and ornate the "older" wedding dresses were, such as all the British Queens, Mary, Victoria, Mother and Elizabeth II. In comparison, Martha Louise's was very "simple." ... Although I much prefer the simplicity of Martha Louise's dress -- much lighter to wear! (Imagine how heavy it would've been to wear all those heavily beaded gowns! :( )

you have add Royalty Wedding Dress?

Are the English brides and Princess Martha Louise the only brides who have had their wedding dresses on display? I believe that the Dutch ladies (Wilhelmina, Julia, Beatrix, and Maxima) also put their dresses on display to honor the wedding of Max and Alex.

What about the dresses of:

Sonja, Silvia, Matte-Marit, Crown Princess Marta (Olav V), Sophia of Greece (Queen sofia), Anne-Marie, Margarethe, Infanta Elena, or Cristina?

Or any others....???

Any more photos would be wonderful.... Thank You so much for sharing these!

Hello Everyone! Thanks and welcome!

I know that Märtha Louise, Sonja, Mette-Marit and Astrid had their wedding gowns on display in Oslo as of September 2002. There are pictures of Sonja's and Mette-Marit's gowns that actually exist. I'm searching for them. But if you find them or pictures of other brides please feel free to post them. :flower:

I found two of Maxima's stunning dress. However it is not my exact favorite. It is stunning however.....

I feel bad, because I didnt see that Cathérine Bergeyck had already placed two photos on the site, however, the second that she posted is absolutly beautiful. I love the pictures of the trains. Like, the photo of Martha Louise's dress, and the view of the train, beautiful...... Here is a side view of Maxima's beautifuly stunning number.

It's amazing that when you look at these wedding gowns that seems to fit the personalities of the women who wore then. for example, without someone telling me I would have guessed which gown belonged to Queen Beatrix... it just seems to fit her perfectly.

I agree, I just wish that when the display them that they wouldn't display them on manicans that look horrid... I mean they don't even look like the ladies half the time, and when they try to make them look like them, they even look worse..... And goodness forbid that they use (for the Dutch ladies) those horrid white ones that make them look like they are ghosts....

I wish that there was a site that showed the royal or some royal wedding dresses on display.

Especially the spanish royal wedding dresses.... or the Greek and Danish royal wedding dresses..

In the picture of Princess Grace's gown you really notice how small her waist was! Not that she looked like she had a thick middle in her wedding pictures, but on the manequin her teeny tiny waist seems to be accentuated.

The dress is so beautiful yet looks litterally brown/yellow! What a shame. Is there no way to preserve a dress? Beatrix's dress doesn't even look that bad, and she was married not to long after Grace.....

Maybe it's the poor lighting that makes Grace's dress look in worse condition than it really is? You would think that as the Princess of Monaco and a formerly glamorous Hollywood actress, someone would've taken care to preserve Grace's dress.

I will agree with you on that one. I am also surprised that her dress was displayed in Philly, when I thought that it should have been displayed in Monaco.

Great photos, Chanel! Yes, the gentleman is showing off the tiara that Grace wore to the pre-wedding ball held in honor of Princess Caroline (1978). I do not remember seeing Grace wear that tiara at any other function except for Caroline's pre-wedding ball.

Thank You Julia. I would have never guessed. I don't know all that much about the Monaco jewels, so that is neat to know.

more add Royals wedding dresses!
