Default New and Old Tiaras for Royal Brides

im asking you question about "borrowing tiara and new tiara"

mostly Royals borrowed from Queen's tiara from their wedding past for currently! and also if you have pictures from past and present.

I been know about Princess Diana wores Spencer tiara from her grandmother's tiara for her wedding in 1981 to Prince Charles and she wores Queen Mary from HM Queen 2 wedding gifts.

im not sure about Sarah,Duchess of York's tiara from wedding to Prince Andrew in 1986.

Sophie,Countess of Wessex she wores that currently tiara when she married to Prince Edward in June 1999 she kept that tiara for long times.

if you have more pictures of Royals? of past and present tiara?

I believe the Duchess of York's tiara was purchased for her from Collingwood - it was not a royal heirloom.

Princess Märtha Louise borrowed Queen Mauds pearl tiara for her wedding, she has not worn it since, which is a shame since it looked so lovely on her.

Mette-Marit got her own Diamond Daisy

Princess Mathilde borrowed at diamond tiara from Paola for her wedding, she has not worn it since unfortunatly

Princess Claire got a tiny new one

Princess Mary got a small (ugly IMO) tiara that had not been i the family before

Princess Alexandra got an old that had belonged to QM, I dont think she owns it, sort of like a lone for life.

Infanta Christina borrowed the floral tiara from Sofia, but has worn it a lot since her wedding

Infanta Elena got one that belongs to her husbands family, do not know if she owns it

Letizia borrowed the Prussian heirloom tiara from Sofia, Sofia also used this tiara at her wedding.

Alexia and Alexandra of Berleburg both borrowed the Khedive of Egypt tiara which all of queen Ingrids female decendants have worn at their wedding (Margrethe, Benedicte and Anne-Marie)

What other tiaras were worn by royal brides on their wedding day? Larzen has a good list going -- can we add to it?

Mabel borrowed a part a the sapphire tiara, a 2nd version of the tiara.
Laurentien borrowed the Laurel-leaf tiara.
Marilene, Anette of Orange-Nassau AND Margarita of Bourbon-Parma all borrowed the ears-of-wheat tiara.

I like the Kent diamond fringe tiara. I think fringe tiara's in general, including the George III tiara which the Queen and Princess Anne both wore on their wedding days and which is practically identical to this one, are very beautiful. The Kent tiara is quite romantic as it seems to have been adopted as the family's wedding tiara. After Princess Marina was given it as a wedding present and wore it on her wedding day in 1934 her daughter Alexandra wore it to her wedding in 1963 and her daughter-in-law Princess Michael, it's present owner, wore it to her wedding reception in 1978. Although Lady Helen Windsor wore the tiara her mother the Duchess of Kent wore on her wedding day (which was a gift from the Duchess' parents) I believe that Princess Michael's daughter, Lady Gabriella Windsor, will choose this tiara when she marries

I read the Duchess of York's tiara came from Garrard, not Collingwood.

I love fringe tiaras, too. They are so elegant, regal yet simple at the same time. What it is intersting about the Kent fringe tiara and sets it apart from other tiaras made in the kokoshnik style is that this one does not dismantle to become a necklace. That is really interesting EmpressRouge. I would love to read the book you refer to but I could never find a copy. Here is a picture of Princess Michael wearing the fringe tiara against a black velvet headband framed by a row of large collect diamonds. Very dramatic but I still prefer the tiara on it's own.

James
If you are intersted in tiaras this book is fantastic.
"Tiaras A History of Splendour" by Geoffrey C Munn, published by the Antique Collectors' Club 2001.
I know another TRF member found a copy on e-Bay.
Keep looking, it's worth it!
