"He started a fight with the other suitor for the Italian throne in the middle of the wedding reception, King Juan Carlos was very upset and said he'll never invite those people again"

I dion't blame him!

From what I read at the time of the Wessex wedding, weddings in the UK have to be before 6PM (or was it 5?) because the official gets off at 6PM. So Edward & Sophie pushed the wedding as late as possible while ensuring they could sign the registry before 6PM, when the official was due to head home.

You would think for the royal family the official would stay as long as he/she liked. But then again, that would be showing favoratism.

It isn't just because of when the official gets off work; it's the law. Weddings have to be held in public places between 8am and 6pm (I think that's the time span). I think this restriction was made mandatory after some cases a couple of centuries ago where heiresses were pretty much abducted and went through forced weddings in someone's private house at midnight or other very late or early hour when nobody was up and about, in order for the bridegroom to get his hands on her fortune.

What is the Vittorio Emmanuel incident? I know V.E. only as the king of Italy 1862...?!

I don't know if this question has been asked but who determines whether a royal wedding will be held in day or evening? The King and Queen or the bride and groom?

I would hope the bride & groom would have a say-so, but probably not likely.
