From the outside it looks nice but i don't like the interieur of it very much. And compared to the 2 Cathedrals where his sisters married this was the one who was the last grandest. I loved the Wedding at Sevilla in that majestic Cathedral.

That's true Stefan but also worth noting is that the Cathedral of Santa María la Real de La Almudena is a relatively a 'newbie' having only been finished in 1993.Compared to the historic cathedrals of Barcelona and Seville,Madrid is the less majestic.

Of course but Felipe's marriage was the marriage of the Heir to the throne. Quiet strange when his sisters are married in grander Cathedrals. They could also do something to upgrade the interieur of the Cathedral.

Maybe overtime it will,I can't really recall the interior of Madrid's Cathedral but I do prefer gothic Religious buildings.

Felipe is the heir of the throne, and so he had to marry in Madrid, that was quite logical. But Madrid hasn´t such an impressive Cathedral as both Barcelona and Sevilla has. La Almudena was the best solution, the greatest and most impressive of Madrid´s churches, plus the Cathedral, "home" of the city´s patroness and next to the Royal Palace.

I would have love if they had married at Los Jeronimos, that´s such a beautiful gothic church, King Alfonso XIII and Queen Victoria Eugenia married there, and the sorrounders (Paseo del Prado) are very nice too, but it´s a very little place for such a great wedding (of course, A&VE´s wedding was a small affair compared to F&L´s)

The church of San Jerónimo el Real in Madrid looks simply stunning, plus it was also the setting for Their Majesties enthronement Mass in 1975 and is vastly under used by the Spanish Royal family.

Yes i know all this. I wonder where he would have married if there was no Almudena Cathedral. Los Jeronimos is a really beautiful Church but i think it would have been to small for the Wedding of the Heir to the throne. Perhaps they could have then used the Escorial for the Wedding Service. I know it is only for funerals but the Church there is also magnificent.

Yes I'd agree with you there, the church of San Jerónimo el Real in Madrid would have been too small,I remember watching footage of Their Majesties enthronement Mass in 1975 and it was jammed packed inside.

The Capilla Real and Escorial churches too are also very much under-used by the royal family.

I believe this is it?

I think the English translation of the church name is Our Lady of Victories or in French Notre Dame .

Is Princess Madeleine marrying in the same chapel where they recently had Princess Lillian's funeral? It looks familiar.

I thought so. It's a beautiful church - can't wait to see how even more beautiful it will be with all the wedding decorations in place!
