The Kings travel to Thailand on the 21st in visit of State

The Kings will effect a visit of State to Thailand from 21 to 23 of this month, as announced today the State Department.
The trip of Don Juan Carlos and Dona Sofía answers to an invitation of the king of Thailand, Bhumibol Adulyadej, and has as aim reduce the relations between both countries in the areas politically, economically and culturally.
The Kings visited Thailand in November, 1987, in a trip that included in addition Nepal.
 
Visit to Tailand

Second Visit of State of Their Majestys the Kings Thailand, taking care of the invitation of Bhumibol His Majesty the King of Thailand, after whom Their Majestys made of the 17 to the 22 of November of 1987 Kings will arrive coming from Hanoi at the Airport of Bangkok, where will be celebrated the ceremony of official welcome. Next they will move to the Pavilion Maha Jesadabodin - host of the Metropolitan Authority of Bangkok -, where they will receive the Gold Key of the city.

The activities of Wednesday, 22 of February, will begin with the hearings of His Majesty the King in the Boromabiman Palace to Prime minister of Thailand, Mr. Thaksin Shinawatra, to the President of the National Assembly, Mr. Bhokin Bolakula, and to the President of the Supreme Court, Mr. Atthaniti Disatha-Amnari.
Once concluded, Their Majestys will move to the Eastern Hotel, where they will offer a reception to the resident Spanish colony in Thailand.
In the evening, Their Majestys will preside over in the SIAM Society the official presentation of the first Thailander translation of "the Quijote", accompanied by Their Height Real Princess Mahachakri Sirindhorn. Later, Their Majestys the Kings of Thailand will offer a gala-dinner to Their Majestys in the Chakri Throne Hall of the Real Palace, that will go followed by a cultural spectacle of dances in the frontal esplanade of the Palace.

Thursday, 23 of February, His Majesty the King, accompanied by Prime minister of the Kingdom of Thailand will inaugurate in the Hotel Grand Hyatt Erawan the enterprise encounter Hispaic-Thailander. Later, Don Juan Carlos will visit portaeronaves HTMS Chakri Narubet, ship standard of the Thailander Navy in Naval Base of Sattaship, and that was constructed by the Company Nacional Bazán. His launching in the Ferrol in 1996 it attended Doña Sofía, accompanying to Her Majesty the Queen Sirikit, godmother of the ship. "The more touching" act of the visit of the Kings to Thailand will be the Quijote presentation, that will count on the presence of the director of the Real Academy of the Language, Víctor Garcia of the Shell, and the translator of the work, Swangwan Traicharoenwiwat.
The Spanish is the second western language -- after the English -- in the ship standard of the Thailander Navy HTMS Chakri Narubet that was constructed in the shipyards of Bazán and is twin of Prince de Asturias of the Spanish Navy. BANGKOK. - The Kings of Spain have arrived at the 17,00 local time (12,00 Spanish peninsular hour) to the airport of Bangkok, where King Bhumibol and Reina Sirikit were received by to initiate his second visit from State to Thailand.
Also he attended the airport a governmental delegation headed by prime minister, Thaksin Shinawatra, of that also Surakiart Sathirathai and the holder of Exteriors comprised Vice Prime Minister, Kantathi Suphamongjon.
The ambassador of Thailand in Madrid, Busba Bunnag, and the ambassador of Spain in Bangkok, Juan Manuel Lopez Nadal, went to the airport to receive the Kings, who travel accompanied of the Spanish minister of Outer Subjects, Miguel Moratinos Angel.
In addition to the safe ones of honor, the interpretation of national anthems of both countries and the magazine of the troops, the ceremony celebrated in the military zone of the airport included a showy recibimiento in charge of a company of dancers, adorned with traditional dresses, that threw petals of flowers to the passage of the monarchs.
At the end of the ceremony, the Kings of Spain, accompanied by their hosts, went to the Pavilion Maha Jesadabodin, seat of the Metropolitan Authority of Bangkok, where the governor of the capital, Apirak Kosayodhin, will do delivery to them of the Gold Key of the city.
From there, Juan Carlos I and queen Sofía will go to the Boromabiman Mansion, in the enclosure of the old real district of Ko Ratanakosi, that will be the residence of the Kings until the next Thursday.

King Carlos on 'Quixotic mission' to Thailand

(dpa) - Spanish King Juan Carlos and Queen Sofia on Tuesday received a royal welcome in Bangkok where they are on a state visit that will cover business, an aircraft carrier inspection and the official launch of the first Thai translation of Don Quixote.

Their Majesties the King and Queen met the Spanish royal couple at Bangkok Military Airport before they were escorted to the Bangkok Metropolitan Authority to receive the City Key.

King Juan Carlos will grant Thai Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra an audience tomorrow morning, and later Wednesday the Spanish monarch will also grant an audience to Spanish nationals living in Thailand.

Then he will preside over the launch of the first Thai translation of the Spanish classic Don Quixote in a ceremony attended by Thai Princess Maha Chakri Siridhorn.

On Thursday the Spanish king will attend a Thai-Spain Business Forum and then visit Thailand's H.T.M.S. Chakri Naruebet aircraft carrier, which was built by El Ferrol of Spain for the Thai Navy in 1996 for 257 million dollars.

Spain's king, queen begin three-day state visit

King Juan Carlos and Queen Sofia of Spain will begin their three-day state visit to Thailand today to further strengthen relations between the two countries which officially began 136 years ago.
It will be their second visit to the kingdom. The first visit was in 1987.
Their Majesties the King and Queen paid their only state visit to Spain in 1960. In 1996, Her Majesty visited Spain for a second time to put HTMS Chakri Naruebet, built by a Spanish shipbuilder, into service.
Upon their arrival, the Spanish royal couple will attend a presentation where the key to the city will be given to them by Bangkok Governor Apirak Kosayodhin.

The Spanish monarch is then scheduled to visit the U-Tapao naval base in Sattahip in Chon Buri to observe a naval exercise after presiding over the opening of a Thai-Spanish business forum in Bangkok.
On his return to the capital, King Juan Carlos will preside over the launch of the first Thai edition of the El Ingenioso Hidalgo Don Quijote de la Mancha at Siam Society, which HRH Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn will also attend.

Sofia of Spain are scheduled to pay a state visit to Thailand from Feb 21-23 as the
guests of Their Majesties King Bhumibol Adulyadej and Queen Sirikit.
It is the second state visit to the Thai kingdom by the King and Queen of
Spain, aimed at strengthening ties and cooperation between the two countries
and their peoples, according to the Thai Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Their Majesties the King and Queen of Spain first visitied the Thai kingdom in
November 1987.
His Majesty King Juan Carlos and Her Majesty Queen Sofia will, among other
activities, travel to the Satahip Naval Base in eastern Chonburi province during

The Kings with Spaniards of Thailand, Cambodia and Laos

Bangkok, 22 feb (EFE). - The Kings met today in Bangkok with a representation of the Spaniards who live and work in Thailand, Cambodia and Laos, "the best complex exponent of, the rich and dynamic reality of Spain", according to Don Juan Carlos. A hotel of Bangkok served as scene for the encounter, that the Kings took advantage of to be interested in the restlessness and experiences of a colectivity that, between the three countries of Southeast Asia, does not reach the number of four hundred people.
The reception, forced in any displacement of the Kings to the foreigner, has been place second of the visit of State of Don Juan Carlos and Doña Sofía to Thailand, within the framework of a tour by this region of Asia that also took to Vietnam.
To that they went to the appointment with the Kings in Bangkok and to which by different reasons they could not come Don Juan Carlos animated to them to follow "with your daily delivery, your effort and work" in different scopes of activity.
With it they will demonstrate to his "respectful coexistence with the values and customs of the society that welcomes to you", but "without letting maintain your traditions alive or identity like Spaniards", added.
Men and women, many on which have been living for decades in this place of the planet, like the Spanish priest Enrique Figaredo, bishop of Battambang, to the north of Cambodia, that takes more than the twenty years dedicated to poorest and aiding the refugees.

Thailander prime minister sample to the King of Spain its interest to study a bilateral agreement on security

Bangkok, 22 feb (EFE). - Thailander prime minister, Thaksin Shinawatra, today showed to the King of Spain his positive disposition to study the company/signature in a bilateral agreement of cooperation on security, informed to EFE sources into the Spanish embassy in Bangkok.
Don Juan Carlos received to prime minister Thaksin in the Boromabinan Palace - it calls to account of the Kings of Spain in Bangkok during his visit from State to Thailand in a series of hearings with the main authorities of the country that also included the president of the National Assembly, Bhokin Bolakula, and to the one of the Supreme Court, Atthaniti Disatha-Amnari.
During his meeting with Thaksin, the King expressed the interest of Spain in closing with Thailand a bilateral agreement of cooperation in the fight against the terrorism, the drug trafficking, the organized crime and the document falsification, initiative that a very positive "refugee on the part of the head of the Government obtained", who was arranged to explore the concretion of this agreement.
Thailand is considered a production center world-wide and distribution of false passports and in the last years the Thailander authorities have seized near a thousand.
