Princess Ubol Ratana and Family

If you have answers, please help by responding to the unanswered posts.
I really look up to this Princess. She stands for everything that I believe in which includes helping kids with Autism.

Eventhough she regain her title back after her divorce, but did the king ban her ex-husband (Peter Ladd Jensen) from the country? and from going to his son funural? just wonder that all.

so sorry for this super late reply. i was absent from this forum for years. been busy with school and all that.

first of all, the princess has NOT regained her royal title even though she's been living in Thailand for a number of years. but yes, she is recognised as a princess by Thai people but technically she's not. her ex-husband was allowed to come to the funeral of Khun Bhumi (Poom). and yes, he was at the funeral.

"The eldest sister of Thailand's King Maha Vajiralongkorn has joined the race to be the country's next prime minister.

Princess Ubolratana Mahidol, 67, will stand for a party allied to ousted prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra, according to registration papers.

Traditionally the Thai royal family stays out of politics, so this is an unprecedented move.

Thailand's election is scheduled to take place on 24 March.

The princess, who relinquished her royal title in the 1970s, has registered for the Thai Raksa Chart party."

Although the Princess relinquished her title she is still in general treated as a royal by the public and spoken of as a royal by the press so the few western reporters who's had time to report on the story speculates if she, in a country where its illegal to criticise the royal family, can be opposed by other candidates.
Even if she's legally not covered by the lèse-majesté legislation her candidacy is highly unlikely to be without the approval of her brother the King which means that she's basically untouchable and therefore in practice, according BBC reporter Jonathan Head, unopposable.

I'll bet my socks on that one day we'll look back on this as the moment when we saw the seeds for the fall of the Thai monarchy being planted.

King Rama as expected does not allow his sister Princess Ubol Ratana to be in Political involvement:

"The Monarchy is under the constitution of the Kingdom of Thailand, the national unity of the people. The Monarch and all members of the Royal Family are above the politics, and carry out duties for the people’s prosperity. As Princess Ubolratana Rajakanya, although she has relinquished her royal title, she is, still, the member of the Royal Family and is highly respected by all royal members and people. Therefore, bringing the royal members into the political involvement in either way, is inappropriate and unconstitutional, contrast to the royal tradition and cultural heritage. The Princess has not been hence not allowed for the Prime Ministerial Candidacy"

Considering the political climate in Thailand, I think that's a very wise decision by the King!

Even if the Princess might actually be the best candidate to put up against the current PM.

After the announcement of the King that all royal members must be above the politics, wich led the Princess not allowed to be in political involvement anymore.

Princess Ubolratana posted on her Instagram and thanks to all supports:

“Thank you all Thais for your love and generosity towards me during the day. Thank you for all your supports. Nevertheless, I honestly want to say, I want to see the development in Thailand, to be praised and accepted worldwide. I want to see all Thais having rights, chances, and well-living with all happiness. Thank you everyone from my heart. I wish you a good luck and happiness.”

Princess Ubolratana thanks Thais for support
