Thailand offers master's scholarships
Thailand Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn announced the scholarships during her visit to the University of Swaziland, Luyengo campus together with Her Majesty the Indlovukazi (The Queen Mother). The Thai Princess is in the country on state visit, where she will be shown Thai-inspired agricultural projects. Her visit follows that of Her Majesty Indlovukazi’s to Thailand in 2009, after which a team from that country came to Swaziland to assess which projects the Thai government could assist in.

Princess visits flood-hit Ayutthaya
Princess Chakri Sirindhorn on Tuesday visited flood-hit residents in Ayutthaya, which has been hard hit by the disaster after some embankments collapsed on Monday. The Princess gave our relief items and bags to people during her visit. She also had royal-sponsored medical teams from Ramathibodi Hospital give treatment to those affected by the flooding.
 
New Thai-Lao Friendship Bridge to foster closer ties
Thailand’s Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn on Friday presided over the inauguration of the third Thai-Lao Friendship Bridge, connecting the northeastern Thai province of Nakhon Phanom with Khammuan province in the central Lao Peoples Democratic Republic.
 
Thai princess bestows name on flood victim's baby
Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn has graciously bestowed on the newborn boy of a flood victim the name of "Uthok" (Water), a source said yesterday.
Piratrak Butkhot, 35, and her family moved to a shelter at the Chulachomklao Royal Military Academy on October 28.
On November 3, the Princess visited the shelter and accepted the pregnant evacuee as a patient under her patronage. The boy was delivered on November 9 and received the name "Uthok".
Overwhelmed by the Princess' generosity, Piratrak yesterday vowed to raise her son as a good citizen of Thai society. Uthok is her third child.

Bangkok Post : Princess to launch new ship
HRH the Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn will today preside over the launching ceremony of the HTMS Krabi, a new patrol vessel built by the Thai navy.
The newly-built HTMS Krabi in dry dock at the Mahidol Adulyadej Naval Dockyard in Chon Buri province. The vessel is to be launched today to commemorate His Majesty the King’s 84th birthday on Monday.

When a thumbnail version of this photo passed in front of my eyes my first thought was "Oh, somebody has fallen over." On closer inspection and on reading the caption, I realized that I was looking at something very different: a gesture of extreme deference.
It's a picture that contains a little more political symbolism than the average birthday party snap.
 
New album published to mark Thai Princess Sirindhorn's three-decade bond with China - People's Daily Online
A new album featuring Her Royal Highness Thai Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn's visits to China during the past three decades made a debut in Bangkok on Thursday, underlining the long-time friendship between the two countries.
The album, published by Xinhua News Agency Bangkok Bureau, is entitled "Everlasting Bond: A Dedication to the 30th Anniversary of H.R.H Princess Sirindhorn's First Visit to China." It includes a prelude written by H.R.H Princess Sirindhorn and dedications from prominent Thai monk V. Vajiramedhi and Xinhua President Li Congjun.
About 100 precious pictures taken by Xinhua correspondents recording H.R.H Princess Sirindhorn's visits to China over the past 30 years are displayed in chronological order in the album. It is a vivid manifestation of the everlasting and unbreakable bond between the princess and China and an important reference material for the study on the history of China-Thailand relationship.

Chris Beyrer, director of the Center for Public Health and Human Rights at the Bloomberg School of Public Health and director of the Johns Hopkins University Fogarty AIDS International Training and Research Program, will receive an honorary doctorate in health science this week from Chiang Mai University in northern Thailand. The award will be given by HRH Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn during the January 19 commencement ceremonies. - Source

Life-saving researchers bag top Thai award - The Nation
This year's Prince Mahidol Award laureates were selected from 76 nominations from 45 countries.
His Majesty the King has graciously designated Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn to preside over the awards ceremony at the Chakri Throne Hall today at 4.30pm.
Each awardee will be presented a medal, a certificate and US$100,000 (Bt3.1 million).
Over the past 19 years, 59 individuals, groups and institutions have received Prince Mahidol Awards.
The Prince Mahidol Award was established by His Majesty in honour of his late father HRH Prince Mahidol of Songkhla in 1992 to mark the 100th anniversary of his birth.
 
SAS Software (Thailand) introduces SAS Curriculum Pathways to the Princess - The Nation
SAS Software (Thailand) is joining with the National Science and Technology Development Agency (NSTDA), The Institute for the Promotion of Teaching Science and Technology (IPST), Mahidol Wittayanusorn School and the Office of the Basic Education Commission (OBEC) to introduce the SAS Curriculum Pathways Project, an initiative by HRH Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn to offer online lessons for the enhancement of academic skills and creative thinking. Currently, over 60 schools across Thailand have already adopted this solution.
 
The princess was in Portugal yesterday, 21.02, to inaugurate a monument made in Thailand that is going to be in Belém Gardens, Lisbon. It was a gift from Thailand to Portugal and aims to comemorate the 500 years of diplomatic relationships between the two countries.

I have a passion for that part of Asia where the portugueses have been in the age of discovery. I think is the most fascinating part of our history. And I always feel touched and proud when I hear about the way people there still respect and care about Portugal. It's a pitty sometimes we don't value that here in Portugal

Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn visited the "International Green Week", a public exhibition for the food, agriculture, and gardening industry, in Berlin, Germany on January 16.
