H.R.H. Princess Bajrakitiyabha presided over the Presentation Ceremony of the International Edition of the Pali Tipitaka in Roman Script to the Minister of Foreign Affairs for further presentation to institutions in India, Japan and Sweden

On 6 March 2007 at 17.00 hours, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs hosted the Presentation Ceremony of the International Edition of the Pali Tipitaka in Roman Script at Vithes Samosorn Hall.

On this occasion, H.R.H. Princess Galyani Vadhana, Honorary President for the Presentation of the Tipitaka Worldwide, has graciously entrusted H.R.H. Princess Bajrakitiyabha to confer the International Edition of the Tipitaka in Roman Script, planned and executed by the M.L. Maniratana Bunnag Dhamma Society Fund, to Mr. Nitya Pibulsonggram, Minister of Foreign Affairs, for further presentation to the Maha Bhodi Society of India, Theravada Association of Japan and University of Lund of Sweden.

One hundred and fourteen years ago, King Chulalongkorn Chulachomklao instructed the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to present the Pali Tipitaka in Siamese Script as a gift of Dhamma to 260 institutions in 30 countries around the world, using the Royal Thai Embassy in London as the distribution center. Published in 1893 by King Chulalongkorn, it was the world’s first printed set of the Tipitaka.

The Presentation Ceremony of the Tipitaka in Roman Script follows in the royal footsteps of King Chulalongkorn, to share with all mankind an exalted intellectual heritage that dates back more than 2,500 years.

In 2005, H.R.H. Princess Galyani Vadhana led a pilgrimage to present the Inaugural Edition of the Tipitaka in Roman Script to the President of Sri Lanka on 6th March 2005. Since then, many institutions worldwide have requested Thailand to provide the International Edition of the Tipitaka.

Please correct me if I am wrong, but it seems that there have been a LOT more photo opportunities with CP Vajiralongkorn and family since the birth of his son, Prince Tipangkorn - at least it seems more than in the past or with his sisters and their children.

Is it possible that with the advanced age and health problems of the king that the Thai royal family have been trying to improve the image of the crown prince and prepare the Thai citizens for him as their monarch? Not that I want HM gone, it just seems so "strategic".

Thanks for any response and opinions.

Eventhough I live in Asia, I don't really familiar with Thai Royal Family. Thanks for this thread's starter. It gives me a lot of information.
I start to love this Crown Princely Family. The Princesses are beautiful and the litle Prince is so cute.
Many thanks for those lovely pics.
