June Official Picture of the Month 2007

Welcome to the June Official Picture of the Month 2007!

The monthly official polls will highlight the official side of royalty as opposed to the informal side of royalty.

The monthly polls will consist of pictures that show a royal on official business.

• gala events such as the Nobel prize ceremonies, state visits, royal ceremonies such as the the Order of the Garter ceremony in Great Britain or the New Years gala for the Knights of the Order of the Elephant in Denmark, Opening of Parliament, coronations, enthronements.
• openings of public events, government buildings, hospitals, christening of ships, official charity work
• family celebrations (such as wedding, christening, or special days such as Victoria Day in Sweden or Queen's Day in the Netherlands, King Harald's 70th birthday) and the balcony shots that accompany them
• among many other official events

We hope by the end of the year to have some really stunning and regal Picture of the Month winners to compete in our 2007 Picture of the Year awards.

This month, our Picture of the Month representatives had help in selecting their images with a small committee of their choosing. Below, you can see each royal house's representative (in bold) followed by their chosen committee members.

The pictures of this poll reflect the official royal events of March. The poll will be open for three weeks. It will close on July 31. During these three weeks, we ask that no one state whom they've voted for so as not to influence other members as they make their choices. For the final week of the month, you can discuss as much as you'd like about which image you voted for and why.

Oldest and Most Noble Order of the Garter
Just two days after the pomp and splendour of the Trooping the Colour parade, the Queen was celebrating yet another of her country's oldest traditions in splendid style at the Order of the Garter service in Windsor. June 10, 2007, Royal Wedding – Princess Majeedah, daughter of Sultan Bolkiah and Queen Saleha, and her husband Khairul Khalil smile at the crowds lining the streets of the capital Bandar Seri Begawan during their wedding procession. The newly weds tied the knot in a lavish ceremony steeped in tradition. The colourful festivities for the wedding lasted two weeks and included elaborate pre- and post-wedding ceremonies. Princess Majeedah, 31, holds an MA in Environmental Development from King's College at the University of London and works for the Department of the Environment. The groom, 32, also works for the government of Brunei. He has been given the noble title of YAM Pengiran Anak.

Hello everybody. I apologize for getting the poll out late this month. The PoM Reps as always were splendid. I just decided to take a vacation this weekend and so am just getting able to publish the poll.

On behalf of all the PoM Committees, I hope you enjoy the poll and in the next day or so I hope to publish our Summer Historical Photo Poll of 2007. We've got some exciting photos of long ago royals from all the reigning houses and some of the non-reigning houses.

Yes. Sweden picture is not showing. I had had this problem more than once with "Gettymages", but not all the time. And if you goes to the "refresh" key the problem wouldn't solve...Odd, very odd.

This poll is for pictures of official events, verde esmeralda, and represents royals of all ages. I imagine we'll see a lot of the cute newborns next month when the christening pictures come out but unfortunately they are a little too young to be having their own royal events quite yet.

I imagine we'll see some cute babies at the informal picture poll in October and the Portraits poll in January but its nice to have some polls with just adults too.
