Crown prince to attend funeral for Tonga's king
....The crown prince's trip was approved at the day's Cabinet meeting.

He will depart from Tokyo's Haneda airport aboard a government plane on Monday and stay overnight in Auckland, New Zealand, according to the Imperial Household Agency. The crown prince will return home Wednesday after taking part in the funeral....

Japan's crown prince departs for Tonga to attend late king's funeral

.....The crown price, who left from Tokyo's Haneda airport aboard a government plane, will attend the funeral Tuesday in the South Pacific kingdom's capital of Nuku'alofa after staying overnight in Auckland, New Zealand....

Distinguished participants,
Ladies and gentlemen,
I am most pleased to have the honor of attending the commemorative ceremony of the 10th International Congress of Inborn Errors of Metabolism, together with so many participants from Japan and all over the world.
This year’s Congress celebrates the 10th meeting, and I understand that it marks the passage of nearly a century since the concept of the genetic disorder known as Inherited Metabolic Diseases was first proposed. When I realize that great advances in the treatment and research of inherited metabolic diseases over the past century have resulted in saving the lives of many patients throughout the world, I am filled with deep respect for the pediatricians, biochemists, nurses, dietitians, and other specialists who have been dedicating hard work and strenuous efforts to this worthy cause.
I have heard that the field of Inherited Metabolic Diseases is made up of an excellent combination of basic and clinical medicine, and thanks to rapid progress in genetic engineering, the diagnosis of many genetic diseases has become possible, and it is expected that this field will contribute greatly to the development of future regenerative medicine and even gene therapy.
Nearly 20 years have passed since the last Congress in Asia was held in Japan, and I am happy to note that a great number of the research papers introduced at the Congress this year are from various nations of Asia, a region with an immense population. I hope that these research papers will clearly demonstrate the steady progress of research and clinical studies in Asia, which, I expect, will lead to an ever widening scope of international cooperation in this field.
Finally, I would like to express my sincere wish that this Congress will produce fruitful results and lead to further developments in the clinical study and research on Inherited Metabolic Diseases, and thus contribute to the well-being of humankind. Thank you.

Prince Naruhito watched Japanese classical drama "Kabuki" at the National Theatre of Japan on Oct. 1st, 2006.
Princess Masako was scheduled to attend this event but because her grandfather just passed away, she went into a 30 day mourning period.

Japan's Crown Prince, a music lover, surprised the Sydney Symphony Orchestra last night by arriving as a last minute guest at their Tokyo concert.
"The musicians are thrilled, absolutely thrilled," said the orchestra's chief executive, Ms Libby Christie.
Prince Naruhito, who plays viola and does an occasional turn as a guest artist with symphony orchestras in Japan, gets most of his practice in the palace music room where he is accompanied by his mother, the Empress, on piano...............

1. H.E. Mr. Teodoro Obiang Nguema Mbasogo, President of the Republic of Equatorial Guinea, and the First Lady will visit Japan from October 30 (Mon) to November 1 (Wed) at the invitation of the Government of Japan.

2.During his stay, President Obiang Nguema will be received by His Imperial Highness the Crown Prince and have a summit meeting with Prime Minister Shinzo Abe. He is also scheduled to meet with Mr. Yohei Kono, Speaker of the House of Representatives, and have various talks with those in economic circles.

3.It is expected that the visit to Japan by President Obiang Nguema and the First Lady will further enhance the friendly relations between the two countries. This will be the President's first visit to Japan.
