Although initially reported as a solo event for CP Naruhito (see his current events thread), CP Masako also attended the 52nd national convention promoting blood donation on July 7th. She last attended this event 13 years ago. In his speech, the Crown Prince hopes blood donation will spread further and mentioned sympathy to the Kumamoto earthquake victims, along with reconstruction hopes as soon as possible.

Lovely! CP Masako seems to be at her most comfortable when she's in conversation. Does anyone know what the medals/orders are that the couple are wearing?

The IHA announced CP Naruhito, CP Masako, and Princess Aiko will visit Nara and Kyoto on July 21-22 to worship Emperor Jimmu and to stay at the Kyoto Imperial Palace. The CP couple have wished to visit these places with their daughter for some time and it will be Princess Aiko's first visit.

Wonderful to see that CP Masako has been able to participate in so many engagements with her husband in recent months.

Thanks for the update!:flowers:
Nara and Kyoto are the former Imperial capitals. Crown Princely couple's pilgrimage, if I may call it so, does not surprise me.

On July 21st, the CP family visited Kashihara, Nara Prefecture to worship Emperor Jimmu. They arrived at 2pm at Kashiharajingū-mae Station and changed clothes before visiting the mausoleum. The family will stay at Omiya Imperial Palace in Kyoto before returning to Tokyo on July 22nd.

Crown Princely family's trip is successful. Princess Aiko is growing to be a lovely young lady.

Princess Aiko looks very grown up! Nice dress, handbag and heels. Almost as tall as her Mother.

Asahi also mentions Princess Aiko is interested in water issues and this is her first time attending the Water Day ceremony. Jiji reports CP Naruhito’s speech touched on the estimated 43 million unit water outage due to the Kumamoto earthquake and that "it is desirable to water resources measures is further enhanced in the future."

On August 3rd, the CP family met with 62 elementary and junior high school "beans reporters" from Hokkaido and Okinawa Prefectures at the Crown Prince Palace. Every year, "beans reporters" get to interview the Prime Minister’s Office and Houses of Parliament, and get a courtesy visit to the CP residence.

The CP family arrived at Matsumoto, Nagano Prefecture on August 10th to attend a commemoration ceremony for the newest public holiday Mountain Day on the 11th. Kamikochi Bus Terminal, which overlooks the Hotaka mountain range, will host the ceremony. Afterwards, the CP family plan to explore nearby surroundings such as Kappa Bridge and Myojin'ike. Climbing is one of CP Naruhito's hobbies and he was born on "Mt. Fuji Day" (Feb 23).

More about Mountain Day: A third of Japan unaware of Mountain Day as holiday makes its debut | The Japan Times
Nearly a third of the public surveyed by a weather news company said they have never heard of Mountain Day, as the newest official public holiday is set to be celebrated for the first time on Thursday.

In 2014, the Diet established Aug. 11 as Mountain Day to be observed from this year, raising the annual tally of official public holidays in Japan to 16. The legislation to create the new holiday was submitted by a group of lawmakers and enacted with support from both the ruling camp and the opposition.

For years, the Japanese Alpine Club and other mountain-related groups had lobbied for the bill, saying Japan needs to celebrate its peaks.

ETA: CP Naruhito also attended the welcome reception in the afternoon. (Asahi link above updated photos)

When Japanese Crown Prince Naruhito proposed to a reluctant Masako Owada, he promised to protect her with all his might, a vow that may get tougher to keep if, as expected, his father Emperor Akihito abdicates, and the woman who has struggled to adjust to royal life becomes empress.

The 82-year-old Akihito, who with Empress Michiko has won hearts at home by championing the disadvantaged and worked to heal the wounds of World War II, hinted in a televised address on Monday that he could give up the Chrysanthemum Throne due to advancing age.

aiko is so grown up these days.

how is masako's health these days? i wonder in the light of the emperors wish to abdicate if she is feeling well enough for her role as empress. will she keep low key if she becomes empress?

I agree, Pr. Aiko is looking very grown up and wearing more grown up clothes.

As for Pr. Masako, she has been doing a lot of engagements in the last several months, so it seems to me that she is coping with her position and its duties.

I very much like that quite a few of the engagements the CP couple do, they do as a family including their daughter.

For me, CP Masako’s health appears to be improving steadily but I’ve only been following the Imperial family regularly this year. Whatever her treatment is, it seems to be working well in the recent years.

Besides Masako’s increased appearances, this year had several "first time in X years" reports. Maybe the next significant step could be a solo event or attending a full garden party or any part of the New Year’s public audiences/lectures.

Emperor Akihito's abdication is still years away, if he's allowed to. Masako may be mostly recovered by then. If not, either Naruhito will continue solo appearances or another Imperial member will substitute.

On August 16th, the CP family arrived at Izukyu Shimoda Station, Shizuoka Prefecture at 4pm on their way to Suzaki Imperial Villa, where they will stay for a few days. The family briefly spoke to some of the 400 people welcoming them.

Thank you, Prisma, for posting the list.

No idea what Google translated "Your bow (personnel changes person)" and "Your faith..." are supposed to be...

From a dictionary, the Google translated "Your bow" is greeting and "Your faith" is a lecture in the presence of the Emperor.

On August 24th, the CP family arrived at Nasushiobara Station, Tochigi Prefecture in the afternoon on their way to Nasu Imperial Villa. They chatted briefly with some of the 300 people gathered for their arrival. CP Naruhito will stay until September 1st while CP Masako and Princess Aiko will stay a few days longer.
