You are right. The original premise was my speculation based on chummy photos and what seemed to be a mutual cold war against QN. And, I suppose, I based some of it on personal experience where the most unlikely band together against a shared "enemy." Women can be very vicious toward other women when they are insecure.....so can men but they seem more discreet or straightforward, whichever you prefer. In my effort to figure out the rift between all I:

a. noted PH immediately loaned her tiara to Rania--a gesture you don't make unless you are friendly and that Rania has worn it a lot since, which seems to mean their friendship continues.

b. Haya said very nice things about QN until about the time Rania became Queen. Then things changed with both women in their attitude toward Noor.

c. In photos which are serious, I assume they are listening intently to one another. Otherwise, they do seem via photos to have a "smiles beaming" good rapport.

But, yes, it is speculation. But, then again, so is most of what we say, do and hear as we go about our lives every day.

Thank you all for your interesting comments.

Hayah has always referred to QN ,in her interviews, as - my father's wife -, at least after her dad's death.

I think Queen Noor wasn't the wonderful stepmoher that some people portray her to be! If some of King Hussein children are cold towards her, then there must be a reason.

I tend to agree with you, Angie. Really, it's only in interviews with QN herself that I've read anything remotely positive about her relationships with her stepchildren. Everything else I've read casts doubt on what QN has said.

Then again, it would be hard to tell if Noor was a good step-mother to King Hussein's children. More often than not, step-children hold at least a little bit of resentment towards their parents' new spouses just for the fact that they married into the family. I guess no one really knows unless you're a part of the family.

amina: your link was interesting.

not for the haircolor, however.

phaya in all her pre-mo pics looks much more content and happy. in the mo pics she looks surly and sometimes agitated compared to her pre-mo days.

i think QNoor openly states that she was not the most maternal of women. however kh could have step forward and intervened in her absentee mommy-hood...if he wanted. he is just as much of the kid's parent as QN.

i've read posts on here about KH & QN leaving on holiday and the kids being stuck in Jordan as they have just returned from boarding school or something to that effect.....so my questiong is: did KH not know his kids were being left behind? did he care? why is he not raked over the coals also? i realise he is/was a king and probably had more to do than stand over his wifes shoulder but really.....i always thought KH & QN to be very 'in tandem' on lots of things.

and yes I read QN's book. the only really personal thing I took from the book is that KH came across as the 'Husband from Hell'.

in my original post i said 'in the gulf' but after i read it and reflected on what i'm trying to say maybe i should just stick with 'many women' regardless of where they are from....

......many women marry v. wealthy men only to realize that the price to pay for access to such incredible wealth is usually very, very, very high.

and you're right, MGirl, Phaya just oozzzzes the term 'new money'.

I had this discussion with a friend the other day, the differences between old vs. new money. I'm curious to know what your opinions are pertaining to old vs. new money. What defines old vs. new money?

I'm afraid I will have to disagree with you on some of the things you have said about Haya. I guess for one thing, beauty is in the eye of the beholder, but I think P Haya is pretty. Now, the fact that she dyed her hair that horrendous color makes her look a mess, and a few of her outfits have been questionable to say the least...I think once she get those things squared her way, she will be able to hold her on against other middle eastern women, or any woman for that matter. Of course, there are women who are more beautiful than she is...No doubt about that. The fat mushroom comment...well, I won't say anything because people are entitle to their opinions.

I agree silver charm, many women do pay an extremely high price for marry wealthy...sometimes abuse being one of them. That was why I initially agreed with you that instead of marrying for money, if that is what she did, I would have preferred her to get a job.

Haya will spend the rest of her married life being totally insecure. I think she will lose weight, color her hair and do all sorts of things to keep Mo's attention. When it comes to women, Mo has the attention span of a gnat. She will constantly worry about him when he is not in her presence(whose bed is he in?) I don't think she has a clue as to what she has gotten herself into. Ask her about her life in ten to fifteen years. Odds are, she will be miserable with a lot of money.

paloma: are you talking euro, american, asian standards?

some of the reigning families of asia can date back their power and money centuries more than europeans. and the europeans can go back centuries more than the americans. but yes the question is a good one....

IMO, old money equates to having the sense to know better. know better than to die your hair orange. know better than to run off with your riding instructor. know better than to marry for money because you have seen that it DOES NOT BUY HAPPINESS in your own family.

think jackie v. marilyn.

paloma..... don't you remember the infamous comment

"Mo is head over heals in love"?????

I'm sure he is totally monogamous or tri-gamous (what is that term when you are faithful to three wiv.....ohhhh it doesn't really matter....mo is in L-O-V-E!!!!!

Once again, I just hope that through this union of two incredibly photogenic souls of harmony that the joggers are safe in the neighborhood of Mo's Palace of Pleasure.

I'm afraid to say it, but you just might be right. Only time will tell.

he can have 4 wives at one time.

he can divorce and remarry as often as he wishes-and from what has been discussed is that he wishes to divorce and remarry quite often.
