With Jordanian troop possibly being sent into Iraq:
http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=stor...id=540&ncid=716

perhaps the international nations will give KA and QR money for sending troops..

Hey, it'll make up for the silverware!
No. I figured it out. We've got it all wrong. Queen Rania was ordering the expensive place settings for the troops going into Iraq as a gesture of appreciation......She was probably sitting there one day, leafing through Dior's latest fashions and suddenly thought--"well, maybe this one time, I will buy one less dress and make sure our troops are properly served." [/b][/quote]
Using the words of another famous queen "Let them eat cake!" Marie Antoinette went the way of the guillotine, along with her husband Louis XVI. KA and QR may just wind up on Al-Qaeda's chopping block.

Seems like many of us are resenting QR tonight for her poor choices.

It's not resenting her..... I don't resent her...... just think it's ridiculous how she behaves and then Time magazine names her one of the innovators or something of the century was it...... CNN did a whole special on the list... but she was up there for being a 'humanitarian' or something.....

OK, former post notwithstanding, KA is a ladies' man like his dad. Yes, they have three children together but coming home to a self-centered bag of bones can't be all that appealing. KH left wives he had children with......interesting point, KH had to drive Abdullah to Rania's home and forced him to propose after a short courtship because he wanted Abdullah to change his reprobate lifestyle. There have long been rumors about their marriage; according to Vanity Fair, the King once treated his wife with some disdain but now is "besotted" as he sees the attention she receives. If you notice, at least internationally, no matter what he says or does, the photos are of Rania, the stories are of how she entered a room and made a speech and what she wore. Remind anyone of a similar royal couple who had a not so happy ever after? If he gets tired of being upstaged, Rania may be packing her Diors and heading off to a private villa while he finds another wife who compliments, not competes with him. Just a thought.

Humanitarian??? Perhaps. She's certainly improved the economies of other countries who produce fine gowns and china. She's bigger than Jordan--improving the lives of designers and jewellers internationally is the only way you could deem her a humanitarian. I wonder if she is using her micro-finance income--the cause she promotes so diligently for poor women--to fund her purchases. From what I've read tonight, I'd like to put her on a high-fat, micro-finance your life diet!

OK, maybe it's just me, then. The pricey tableware places me squarely on the side of QN where the rivalry between these two is concerned. Maybe we should print out this thread when it's all done and mail it to both of them. QN will love us; QR will probably be too self immersed to notice.

I always wondered why King Hussein had to insist he proposed... KA said it was love at first sight.. so one would think that he'd marry her on his own - no pressure needed... are they in love or is it a marriage of convenience only they know... QR is beautiful - but there are a lot more beautiful women out there, many who even have huge hearts - so it's doubtful looks have anything to do with them staying together..... maybe to keep a stable environment for the kids.... her receiving the attention may be a reason to keep the marriage going - but they were married some time when they ascended the throne... so maybe it is love...

Hehehe, Papillon - you'd have to edit out all the critical things said about Hamzah before emailing the thread to QNoor....
QR will say it's just more jealousy

Is that true about the proposal, Mary Shawn? I didn't know that.

I, too, have noticed that the press isn't much interested in what a small, chubby man does or says when he's accompanied by a tall, exotic beauty. Neither of them comes across to me as very centered where their egos are concerned, so it's got to bother KA at some level that, although he outranks his wife, the media is much more interested in her. I just don't quite buy that one could go from disdain to besotted. I think the fact that KA womanizes sort of demonstrates the limits of his besotted-ness. Actions speak louder than words.

Oh, that would be obscene. No, I think she uses her MACROfinance fund to support her favorite charity--herself.

Is KA still womanizing? I've always wondered about that... where's the man find the time?

QR is beautiful
Beauty is as beauty does--that's what wise men say. (Sorry, that's a verse from a record my mother bought me when I was young and impressionable, but it seems appropriate here.)

Papillon, I totally agree... what I meant was that it's doubtful that's why he married her and why they've been together for so long...

Oh, we must be sharing a brain! I thought of that, too. I wonder how much criticism QR has to hear before she is willing to reconsider how she conducts herself.

Perhaps she thinks everyones jealous because thats how much she fancies herself... whenever QN is criticized she blames herself - or tries to smooth it over...

And, not to be mean, but who finds him physically attractive? He just doesn't seem like the babe magnet type but, of course, he has power, so that must be the lure.

So, QR is thinking, "Dang. I'm so fine that, if I weren't already me, I'd be jealous."?

Yes, QN is more mature and more sensitive to the feelings and needs of others.
