Does anyone think that Rania and Noor's relationship is beyond the point of repair? Ideally the two Queens would get along and also help Hamzah's new wife Noor with the challenges ahead for herself as the Crown Princess. And Noor and Rania would work together to create better initiatives and programs to improve the lives of Jordanians. Of course all this would be true in a perfect world! But does anyone believe that there could come a time when Noor would be "permitted" to spend more time in Jordan (and with Hamzah) and allow her daughters to spend more time there as well, and co-exist peacefully and somewhat happily with Rania? I think that if Hamzah is intent on pursuing his ultimate goal to become King of Jordan one day, he could use his mother's guidance and support. She, afterall, was a first hand witness to King Hussein's successful and popular reign. I'm sure that Noor could provide Hamzah with numerous insights and advice on how to best achieve his goal and how to best help the Jordanian people.

I think the QR nose looks the same... the one on the LTR thread looks like it was altered to make her look weird... but the nose looks the same..

Well, theoretically, it's probably not beyond the point of repair. But, realistically, I think there has probably been so much damage done between the two that it would be hard to carry on in the ways some of us would like to see. I noticed in today's online edition of the "Jordan Times" that QN has handed off her foundation's Jordan Design and Trade Centre operations to independent women's groups. It's being positioned in the article as a great success, but when I was there last summer, even the employees at the Amman, Madaba, and Aqaba stores were lamenting the lack of sales and the poor marketing. I sense it's just another way of minimizing QN's responsibilities and status in Jordan. And check out this article. It seems QN is not even spending her summer in Jordan working on her projects and planning the Jerash Festival, as she did last year. It's all so sad.

interesting point, KH had to drive Abdullah to Rania's home and forced him to propose after a short courtship because he wanted Abdullah to change his reprobate lifestyle.

There have long been rumors about their marriage; according to Vanity Fair, the King once treated his wife with some disdain but now is "besotted" as he sees the attention she receives. If you notice, at least internationally, no matter what he says or does, the photos are of Rania, the stories are of how she entered a room and made a speech and what she wore. Remind anyone of a similar royal couple who had a not so happy ever after? If he gets tired of being upstaged, Rania may be packing her Diors and heading off to a private villa while he finds another wife who compliments, not competes with him. Just a thought.
Is that true about the proposal, Mary Shawn? I didn't know that.

I, too, have noticed that the press isn't much interested in what a small, chubby man does or says when he's accompanied by a tall, exotic beauty. Neither of them comes across to me as very centered where their egos are concerned, so it's got to bother KA at some level that, although he outranks his wife, the media is much more interested in her. I just don't quite buy that one could go from disdain to besotted. I think the fact that KA womanizes sort of demonstrates the limits of his besotted-ness. Actions speak louder than words. [/b][/quote]
Yes, it is in an article in a magazine published in 1999--Harpers Bazaar, I think. Anyway, they met at a party, dated a bit for a few months, and KH, increasingly concerned over Abdullah's partying ways, insisted Rania was the right choice and did indeed drive Abdullah himself over to Rania's home to oversee Abdullah ask for Rania's hand in marriage......Wonder what she thought of that? It is odd and somewhat unromantic.

Yeah, it's sort of like a reverse shotgun wedding.

I think that Princess Noor is cute - but not beautiful.. But wouldn't that be something if she morphs into some kind of fashionista... I don't think QR would like that at all - that's when the investigations into Hamzah's finances would start... :P
Now, that would be fun!!!! QR vs. PN......in a competition "designed" to outdo one another. If I were a designer not used by QR, I'd be on the next plane offering outfits, style tips.....This could be very, very interesting to watch. Kind of like Princess Diana and the Duchess of York for awhile (only I think PN would have more fashion savvy than Sarah did then). I hope she does glamorize a bit and turns up at an event with Queen Rania in attendance with handsome PH by her side and all the flashbulbs turn in her direction. Someone would be stamping her Manolo Blahniks!!!! Can we start a "Turn Princess Noor into a Real Fashionista" fund???? just to get QR's goat.....A little competition keeps one on one's toes.....or stilettos.

Sorry for keeping this off-topic, but I think I know what you are talking about. It is from an interview Queen Noor did with Barbara Walters shortly after King Hussein's death. I will post the transcript here (mods, you can move this to another thread if you like):

Quote:
BARBARA WALTERS: (voice-over) Although Abdullah was chosen, many believe that King Hussein actually favored his younger son, Hamzah, to be his successor. But at 18, Hamzah was considered too young to lead the nation.

(on camera) You look much like him.

PRINCE HAMZAH, Crown Prince of Jordan: That's very kind of you.

BARBARA WALTERS: (voice-over) We briefly met the shy crown prince, but he was reluctant to talk to us, except to say how much he misses his father.

PRINCE HAMZAH: None of his children could have asked for a better father or a better friend.

Hi, thanx alot !!!! Are you sure this is the whole transcript ? I know they talked about international politics, too. She was very impressed of Hamzah's enormous acquaintance of the topic, expecially as he was only 18 at the time. Did you get it from the web ?

Okay, go to this site www.geocities.com/raniajordan/
Then go to the section of photos listed as miscellaneous. The miscellaneous section will have a wedding album. Go to the photo with 80kb underneath. It is a VERY GOOD shot of her and her old nose. Abdullah will be in his military uniform.

I would link the photo, but I don't know how to. Sorry.
I do think she had a lips and a chin job, while her nose does not seem different , in my opinion, of course. B) :flower: :P

I have that interview on tape. This is all that was said during the interview. Prince Hamzah didn't want to talk to her.

I got it from Highbeam research. I have a seven day free trial with them. I was only able to find a handful of transcripts that mentioned Hamzah, and this particular one was with Barbara Walters. That is all that is in the transcript, unfortunately - the rest is the interview with Queen Noor. I shall have to try to find another one.
