Hussein and Muna were divorced in December of 1972, so if that pic was made in 1969, it was about three years prior to their break-up.

With respect to others who have replied, I agree with you.....of course, he did have 20 years w/her...but they do seem at ease. And his regard for her was certainly made apparent in last letter re: succession. I will say the few photos of KH and Alia seem to show same comfort level (go to MGA Production and look up Queen Alia for great pics) but QN physically and perhaps ((not knowing her personally) emotionally seemed a lot like Alia......and I'm sure he was most thankful to find her after his great loss.

from king hussein web page:
Al-Hashmiya Palace (Dar al-Bir):Located on high ground in the Hummar area, the Palace was built during the mid 1970s to be the home of Their Majesties King Hussein and Queen Alia, until the Queen’s tragic death on February 9, 1977. From the palace, Jerusalem could easily be seen on a clear day. In appreciation of Queen Alia’s love for this beautiful area, she was laid to rest close by the Palace and a mosque was built nearby. http://www.kinghussein.gov.jo/images/k_hashmiya.jpg During the 1980’s and until 1997, al-Hashmiya was used as a guest palace for visiting heads of state and dignitaries, when Their Majesties King Hussein and Queen Noor asked for the building to become a new home for some 200 orphans who were living in harsh conditions in Amman. The Palace took the name of Dar al-Bir Last edited by Mandy : 05-22-2007 at 12:38 AM. Reason: To replace a hotlinked image with a URL. |
