Even in Morocco, where the Royal Family is by and large more traditional in its day to day life than the Jordanian, the ladies do not cover their head in public.
This belongs to another topic, Shelley. But you are definitely right in what you say. The wearing of Hijab is up to the believer. Modesty above all is what is important. But Humble's original comment was really to show, in my interpretation, that the Hashemites are not really religious because their wives and daughters do not wear a veil. I totally disagree with this. In actual fact because they do not enforce any code for dress for women in Jordan, rather give them the choice, it shows enlightenement and intelligence.

Why? Because the negative comments are deeply offensive, unfair and without merit, Angie. How would you like it if people were spreading misconceptions and lies about you? Some posters are using the JRF like a punching bag. Freedom of speech entails a little bit of responsibility, I think. It's one thing to write about the feelings you have for someone, it's another thing to accuse a head of state and his family of criminal activity when you have nothing to back it up with.
I've been following this board for a while and the negativity about the JRF bewilders me. There is no balance of positive comments versus negative. Posters have been allowed to run riot with inconcievably biased comments about the Jordanian royals, particularly Abdullah and Rania. Let's just say I would like to readdress the balance so that a newcomer who's just joined this board to seek information or someone becoming interested in the JRF for the first time doesn't come away with an unecessarily bad view of them, just because some individuals have nothing else to do but bash them and talk rubbish about them.

I see your point. I would be really pi***d off if someone was spreading lies about me. I take it from you comments that you know the royal family personally? or am I wrong?

No, I don't know them personally, Angie. I respect and admire Abdullah and Rania as individuals. From what I've seen they are doing a great job, which is a difficult one. They don't deserve all this hate and nonsense that's being posted about them. At then end of the day they are normal human beings with feelings. I think people forget that. No need to trash them.

In all fairness you don't know either if it's false what some of the people say here.

Yeah they are normal human beings with feelings, we all agree on the one!

You haven't seen anything to you see what is written about Haya...but I can respect people's opinion even if I don't agree. They are after all entitled to it. There are royals that I'm not fond of, but I don't bash...at least I try not to. Far be it from me to step on anyone's toes...Unless you step on mine first.

Angie, as long as someone can prove to me without a shadow of a doubt that what it's being said about the JRF is true, then I will rest my case. In any court in most civilized countries all individuals are innocent UNTIL proven guilty. People here are basically passing judgement and what is very alarming - without providing evidence of any sort. It's nasty gossip at best, serious slander at worst. SLANDER is a serious offence, especially if you are alleging what these posters are. What does slander really mean? Bismirching someone's good name, dragging it through the mud. It's one thing to have a serious discussion, it's quite another thing to jump to conclusions and slander a head of state and his wife. People should watch what they say and how they say it. There is a wise saying - if you don't have something nice to say about a person, then don't say anything at all.

Opinions and feelings are fine, slander isn't. I don't like certain people in the public eye but I don't go out of my way to trash and slander them. There is a point I wouldn't cross. It's not in my nature to be nasty like some individuals here and also I believe that what you dish out comes back at you in some form or another. Think of the internet as a collective pool. What you say here DOES have an enormous effect on your real world. Be nice and people will be nice to you. Be nasty and you will get the same.

I agree, some of what is brought up here is without any evidence.

Yeah the Haya bashing is really mean spirited but people are entitle to their opinions.

Opinions are fine but bashing is not. It is clearly written in the posting guidelines for this forum:

"there is to be no "bashing" of any individual, royal or otherwise, on this board and no "bashing" of fellow members for their views.
Despite earlier requests as members to not bash individuals such as Mary Donaldson nothing seems to have changed and therefore we are ma it a rule that if anyone says nasty and very unkind things about someone then their post will be removed completely.
In the course of discussion about any public individual, please stick to published facts or statements, not unkind rumours."

It is up to the moderators to be on top of things. I am astounded how they let some members behave and bash the JRF, particularly Abdullah, Rania and Haya. It needs to be controlled more, especially since some posters have resorted to slander. Not acceptable IMO. Moderators please take note!

Maybe things will change from now on. The bashing has been going on since I started visiting the forums and I been coming here since last year.

I am new here..and we are already talkiiiiiiiing censor of opinions :o...my first post in the ME forum is here:
It is obvious to me from:
- the size of jordan
- its very limited resources
- its population
- its "economy" and its history
- the so many numbers of the "royal family"
- abdellah who spends most of his time abroad (he was called like his father "kiiiiiiiiiing by correspondence"
- the way his wife rania dresses
- the luxious vacation they have (for example)
(from a post by Alisa in royal blue forum (Mary's forum): Alisa said"
"while back I watched a program on the Travel on the most luxurious hotels in world..A Swiss hotel and it's suites was featured. The announcer mentioned that the hotel has also hosted a few top officials including royalty. According to the announcer, certain royal queen spent a few days in the hotel with entourage of bodyguards and assistants. The cost of the suite was a reportedly $33,000 USD a night.

This queen was...........................................................Queen Rania of Jordan." ) [end of quote]

==> Given all the above, KA and his wife can't afford what they are spending based ONLY on their "private money"..Something else is going on there...

As for haya, she chooses her mo...that's her life..she has the right to secure it....

Finally, when you are a public figure....you are exposed to all opinions: positive and negative and those who like a certain public figure will obviously get mad with those of negative opinions of that figure..OTHERWISE...there will be no board like this one and it will be monotonous....

Good night,

Good night,

I hope no one gets censored! I like the fact that this is not an "I love the royal family forum".

Matesha I agree with everything you had to say.

I think the point is being missed...No one said that negative things couldn't be said because as I stated before there are royals that I am not necessarily fond of myself, but I don't go around bashing them. In fact, I say what I have to say whether it is positive or negative...but I don't go into an all out bash fest. Some people just take things way too far, but I try not to say much about it because when you call someone on it, they accuse you of taking away their rights to voice their opinions. So, I just don't say anything unless someone makes a post in relation to something that I have posted. I also may reply to something someone else has posted, but I don't intimidate anyone, or tell them that they can't say whatever it is that they have said. I hope it is okay to voice negative opinions, but there is a difference between posting negative opinions and an all out bashing.

Hey I'm an advocate for people having the right to voice their opinions positive or negative...Entitle is my favorite word. It's the bashing that unnerves me.

The point is not being missed, at least not with me. The problem here is that what some of us view as bashing others view as opinions.

I don't think anyone here is been intimidated for not agreeing with others! I haven't seen it.
