A thread for Princess Irene and Prince Carlos Hugo de Bourbon Parme's son, Prince Carlos.

Does anyone have a profile of Prince Carlos? I think I recall that he has a young son? What does he do and where does he live? And what is his relationship like with both of his parents?

Pictures from a 2004 interview in Hong Kong.

Ah it is about his other grandfather, Prince Xavier of Parma, who also was held in this camp. Moving anecdote...

Thank you for posting that link Monique, and welcome at TRF.

I was wondering, is it known what prince Carlos does with his life? We do know what all his siblings are doing but about him they are usually pretty vague. I remember that Margarita in one of her infamous interviews said that they usually try to keep up appearances but in fact he didn´t finish a university and doesn´t work in the banking world at all (which is suggested at times).

HRH has finished his university and is living a very private and modest life, while working in the banking world, in Brussels.
Prince Carlos is closer to modest/shy, maybe he looks stern at times, but "he isn't that bad". He has found his way of dealing with life after a rather turbulent childhood, and as he was the eldest, it's them who gets the most from situations like his parents were in at the time. He's OK.

Interesting, I forgot about what must have been extremely trying for the Bourbon-Parme siblings, their unstable childhood with parents who didn't get along, who changed countries, etc. etc. Must have been a challenge, for sure.

I can understand what you're saying about the shyness, I can see that. Glad I'm wrong on Carlos - somewhere I knew I would be!
Incidentally, you happen to know a bit more about him? He;s a private person of course so it's none of our business, but where, for example does he live these days? Does he have a partner? No, I'm not nosy at all!

Well, I was actually heading nowhere, just wondering what it is that he is doing. As we are informed about the jobs of Maria-Carolina and Jaime, and to a lesser extend the one of Margarita I was wondering what it is the Prince is doing. Every now and then he is attending parties of that Aad Ouborg of ´Princess´ kitchen appliences (sometimes with Prof. Pieter va Vollenhoven) but other than that I hear next to nothing.

On another note, how sour are the relations with his uncle Prince Sixte and his aunt Princess Francoise Lobcowicz? They are not on speaking terms with Carlos´ father I believe but did that result in non exsistant relations with CH´ children too?

No,there is no contact with that ridiculous Sixte,at all.Not since decades ago he and "his men",fired at at the Carlist meeting while
Irene & C-H were attending,he's another mental case,a extremely right-wing and very gay one at that.A "Queen in her own right".

Think it's clear,I detest that guy,for being the first, not the latter ofcourse.I never hear/see them with Francoise, but they do have contact with their other aunts.

This is the last I know about Prince Carlos. The article is however already two years old and the website isn't updated, but perhaps there is a new website (as this one is called "demo"). I believe the prince had in the USA also an own company for a while. Both websites are only in Dutch.

I believe Prince Carlos Hugo was recently pictured with his sister Francoise (and 2 other sisters) in Point a Vue. So there seems to be at least some contact with her.

With Francoise? I thought he only was in touch with his 3 sisters who were single, Marie de Neiges, Cecile and Marie Therese?

I thought so too. But Point a Vue showed pictures in juni this year where the four of them were at the opening of the exhibition on the Duchess of Berry. So a guess they are at least on speaking terms again.

Marc van der Linden, reporter of magazine 'Royalty' and boulevard magazine 'Weekend' said that after he found Alexia Lejeune and Alicia de Bielefeld he still has one other person on his 'list', a illegitemate son of a prince. I think it is safe to assume that he means the son of Prince Carlos and Brigitte Kleynstra, Carlos Kleynstra. I hope that mr. van der Linden won't actually succeed btw, as the boy must be going to school by now and it must be difficult to be seen in such a magazine by you classmates.

I hope he fails, but tricky as he is...:bang:

Carlos Jr. has not always been out of the public eye. He,and his mother, enjoyed their winter holidays in Lech,ao,with members of the RF before.During their lifetime,Carlos and mommy have been invited by the late Princess Juliana and Prince Bernhard at Soestdijk Palace as well,I recall pictures from at least one of these occasions.

Prince Carlos has a new job, he will work for MVO Nederland, a 'knowledge and network organisation that urges companies to conduct business in a socially responsible way'. The chairwoman of the organisation is former minister Margreeth de Boer (Labour/PvdA). The prince will mainly focus on international themes.

Article in Dutch from royalblog here.

According to RTL Boulevards Peter van der Vorst prince Carlos is dating a lady named Annemarie Gualtherie van Weezel. He says an engagement is most probably followed soon. As reason for this he states that when they announce an engagement of a prince they usually announce another small news item about him just a week or so before, like him getting another job. And of course he claims to have good sources too ;).

I looked in a Tatler of December 1996 before throwing it away and it says (in the Tatler little black book) "Gorgeous, mischievous blond nephew of Queen Beatrix of the Netherlands. Drives about like a bat out of hell and has an erratic sleep pattern. Multilangual and an eternal student, he spent the minimum time required to get his LLM from Trinity Hall, Cambridge as he was always on the move from on European capital to the next. Now works in Hong Kong."

Something tells me that he worked for the ABNAMRO in Hong Kong. And he did get a degree from Cambridge (do not know what a LLM is)

Prince Carlos will attend the Night of Sustainebility in Amersfoort on september 8th.

Dutch Prime Minister Receives ‘Planet First!’ from Prince Carlos

On monday Dutch Prime Minister Jan-Peter Balkenende received the statement of principles of ‘Planet First!’, from the Nationale Postcodeloterij (National Postal Code Lottery) and the Institute for Sustainable Innovation & Development (ISID). The chairman of the ISID is prince Carlos of Bourbon-Parma, son of the duke of Parma and princess Irene of The Netherlands. The prince was accompanied by Boudewijn Poelmann, chairman of the Nationale Postcodelotterij. The report is a plea for ‘new priorities, because there are limits to what earth has to offer us’. The lottery will use the statement as a guideline in handing out money to various good causes, says Mr. Poelmann.

Prince Carlos of Bourbon-Parma recently got engaged to the Dutch journalist Annemarie Gualthérie van Weezel. Only a few days ago an interview was published in which the prince said that he and his fiancee will marry in Brussels.

It seems that Annemarie Gualtherie van Weezel was also there. Click here.
