That was so sweet, especially coming on an official letterhead from the Capo de la Casa Realle di Savoia.........do you suppose he used it as a reminder of who is still "in charge"?

One imagines that to be the reasoning behind it. lol. Needless to say, it is probably quite safe to assume the Prince of Naples did not receive an invitation.

If EF doesn't have any sons, the leadership of the House of Savoy will automatically pass to the Aosta branch because of Salic law. VE has no brothers and no paternal uncles.

Can VE pull a Michael of Romania and change the house laws so that Vittoria could one day become head of house, or would that require constitutional change?

This is correct, if EF will not have a son, the branch Aosta will be the only surviving branch. Maybe the Grandchildren of Amedeo, it to long time for him!

In a letter written to VE in January 1960, King Umberto II wrote that he has not the right to change the succession law (Tale legge, io 44mo Capo Famiglia, non intendo e non ho diritto di mutare). So, I don't think the Head of the Family, who however is Amedeo, can change them...

Much with all due respect, but this series of disputes among Amedeo, Vittorio Emanuele (that my old mother still calls "The King", and alas, Princess Marina "the Queen") and Emanuele Filiberto, sounds so much like to what Berlusconi would refer as a "teatrino" (sort of a puppet theatre).
Hopefully Aimone and Olga will bring some seriousness into the Royal House.

He left Italy for Moscow when the life there was still difficult. We are talking about "Kings" without crown only to spend a little bit of time... For the moment VE is the Head of the House, even if I do not like it, all the rest is bla bla! Quote:
If the family still reigns all changes should be approved by the Parliament of the State, but for Savoia this is not valid anymore. When King Umberto II wrote that letter, probably he had the hope to see his descendents on the throne of our country... Last edited by Tosca; 09-23-2008 at 12:02 PM. Reason: merged posts |

Both bride and groom are from deposed royal houses, what do they live on? Do they have an inheritance, property, and art or jewel collection to speak of?

Because of her father morganatic marriage, Olga is not a Royal Princess, is she?
Does anybody know if Aimone's marriage is ok for the "Norms governing marriages in the House of Savoy"? |

For Savoy House Laws the marriage is ok, because she come from a Royal Family. However Prince Amedeo has given his consent to it. |
