The accompanying article says:

By gentle courtesy of their father, His Royal Highness Prince Aimone di Savoia, Duke of Aosta and of Apulia, we publish a photograph taken during a car race at the circuit of Volokalamsk, outside Moscow. It portrays Their Royal Highnesses Prince Umberto (center) and Prince Amedeo di Savoia (left), respectively the Prince of Piedmont and the Duke of the Abruzzes.

As has become a tradition in the House of Savoia, the little princes -following in their father's footsteps- have shown a special passion for cars from an early age on.

We thank the Heir who, albeit from afar, maintains the link between the royal family and the Unione Monarchica Italiana by sending photographs to show the princes to the Italian monarchists.

A beautiful picture of the three children of the Duke and Duchess of Apulia. They're certainly growing up fast..

I like it that they named their children with traditional names. Umberto, Amedeo and Isabella are all frequent names in the history of the Casa di Savoia.

Prince Umberto, the eldest, has Princess Olga's eyes indeed... Prince Amedeo is the spitting image of his father Prince Aimone. Princess Isabella is very blond, as was her father in his young years.

Question: is the family now naming itself Savoia and no longer Savoia-Aosta ? The site of the UMI (a support group loyal to the Savoia-Aosta case) of course is nothing official. It seems "wishful thinking" to me? By my knowledge the official name is Savoia-Aosta?

Princess Isabella reminds me a little bit on Princess Antoinette of Orleans (the oldest daughter of the Duke of Vendôme).

What a wonderful group of siblings!

Legally (since 1 January 1948) Amedeo, his children and the children of prince Aimone just have the surname "di Savoia-Aosta" and no title is recognized.
But when it comes to the dynastic titles:
A) according to the line of succession that sees Vittorio Emanuele as the Head of the Family, Amedeo is "HRH Prince of Savoy, Duke of Aosta", Aimone is "HRH Prince of Savoy, Duke of Apulia" and his children are "HSH Prince(ss) of Savoy-Aosta";
B) according to the line of succession that sees Amedeo as the Head of the Family, Amedeo is "HRH Duke of Savoy", Aimone is "HRH Hereditary Royal Prince of Italy, Prince of Savoy, Duke of Aosta", Umberto is "HRH Royal Prince of Italy, Prince of Savoy, Prince of Piedmont", Amedeo is "HRH Royal Prince of Italy, Prince of Savoy, Duke of Abruzzi" and Isabella is "HRH Royal Princess of Italy, Princess of Savoy".
These titles and styles are according to the Royal Decree of King Umberto I dated 1 January 1890 about the titles of the Royal Family and its following amendments.

There is still a trial for the Surname. "Aosta " represented the branch not really the Surname but the Tribunals will decide in the end.

I think I understand it now. Thanks.

So Prince of Savoy is referring to the dynasty named Savoia, like Prince (Princess) of Orléans is referring to the dynasty named Orléans and like Prince (Princess) of Bourbon-Two Sicilies is referring to the House of Bourbon-Two Sicilies.

A Prince of Savoy can have a territorial designation like Duke of Aosta, a Prince of Orléans can have a territorial designation like Duke of Vendôme and a Prince of Bourbon-Two Sicilies can have a territorial designation like Duke of Castro.

However I understood that Prince Amedeo, the undisputed Duke of Aosta, is in a fight with Prince Vittorio Emanuele for the title Duke of Savoy. As Prince Vittorio Emanuele simply is the son of Italy's last King and as there is no clear handling to refuse him the headship of the Royal House, I think he has better cards to call himself the Duke of Savoy indeed.

Well, since 1948 Aosta is also a part of the surname, due to the constitutional provision that the predicates of the titles of nobility existing before 28 October 1922 shall serve as a part of the surname.
The trial (that should be finally decided in some time) has as its object the use of the surname "di Savoia". According to Vittorio Emanuele, who has started the trial, Amedeo and Aimone cannot call themselves "di Savoia" because their surname legally is "di Savoia-Aosta"; AFAIK he claims that their usage of the surname "di Savoia" is an injurious practice that violates Italian law (i.e. art. 6 of the Civil Code).

That's quite correct. Basically Prince of Savoy is the title that all the dynasts have, according to the 1890 Royal Decree; in addition the children of the King and of the eldest son of the King are also Royal Princes of Italy.
The Royal Princes are styled Royal Highnesses; the others (who were called Princess of the Blood in the Decree) are styled Serene Highnesses, although during the Monarchy basically all them were upgraded to Royal Highnesses.

Rather than a territorial designation, they are additional titles. In the case of the title "Duke of Aosta", "Duke" is the title and "Aosta" is the territorial designation of the title.
IIRC the Royal Decree about the titles provided that the sons of the King and of the Hereditary Royal Prince shall be given an additional title. Such titles in some cases were hereditary (i.e. the titles of Duke of Aosta and of Duke of Genova), in other cases were conferred ad personam (i.e. the title of Duke of Spoleto conferred to the late Prince Aimone, or the titles of Duke of Bergamo, of Pistoia and of Ancona conferred to the younger sons of the late Prince Tommaso, Duke of Genova).

I agree, this is a lovely little family. Princess Isabella is so adorable! She has a rather vintage appearance, particularly with her outfit.

No problem. Ask the average Italian who has won the Italian X-factor last year and they will have no idea either. Ask the average Belgian for the name of the second child of their King and they have no idea either. That is pretty normal anno 2016, I think.
