Duke Carlos and Duchess Annemarie of Parma and Piacenza and Prince Jaime, Count of Bardi, attended on 16 April 2011 the inauguration of the exibition "Libri a Corte. Le biblioteche dei Duchi di Parma da raccolte private a patrimonio della Nazione unita" (Books at Court. The libraries of the Dukes of Parma from private collections to heritage of the unified Nation"), at the Palatine Library in Parma.
The exibition is dedicated to the late Duke Carlos Hugo, father of Duke Carlos and Prince Jaime.

The inauguration was followed by a concert, where was played a symphony composed in 1816-1824 by Maria Luisa, Duchess of Lucca and wife of the titular Duke of Parma at the time of the napoleonic invasion.

The nowadays Duke of Parma seems to be less "carlist" and more dedicated to the italian heritage.

Which are the relations between the Duke of Parma and the Duke of Aosta?

They are very distantly related, as their closest common ancestors are King Carlos IV (1748-1819) and Queen Maria Luisa (1751-1819) of Spain.

I wonder what happens now?

This could possibly get interesting especially with his Queen aunt and his mother.

I suppose the Duke of Parma should not continue the carlist dreams of his father.

At the beginning carlism was a movement of those who do not recognize Queen Isabella II and wanted her unche don Carlos as King.With Prince Carlos Hugo it became a rather mixled political group linked even with "socialist" ideas.

Hello, does anyone know the current line of succession of the Ducal House of Parma and Piacenza? If so please enlighten me to whom is in line to the Headship? Is any of the Grand Ducal House of Luxembourg in line to succession?

The line of succession is as follows:
1. Prince Jaime, Count of Bardi, the brother of Duke Carlos; unmarried and without issue;
2. Prince Sixte Henri, younger brother of the late Duke Carlos Hugo and uncle of Duke Carlos and Prince Jaime; unmarried and without issue;
3. Prince Philipp, second cousin of Duke Carlos; his descendants are excluded because of his morganatic marriage;
4. Prince Alain, Philipp's younger brother; without issue;
5. Prince Michel, cousin of the late Duke Carlos Hugo and uncle of Philipp and Alain;
6. Prince Eric, first son of Michel;
7. Prince Michel, first son of Eric; unmarried and without issue;
8. Prince Henri, Eric's younger son; unmarried and without issue;
9. Prince Charles Emmanuel, Eric's younger brother;
10. Prince Amaury, Charles Emmanuel's son; unmarried and without issue;
11. Prince André, younger brother of Michel (n.5); his descendants are excluded because of his morganatic marriage;
12. Prince Remy, cousin of the late Duke Carlos Hugo; his descendants are excluded because of his morganatic marriage;
13. Prince Jean, younger brother of Remy; his descendants are excluded because of his morganatic marriage.

Grand Duke Jean of Luxembourg would be 3rd in the line of succession, but in 1986 he renounced for himself and his family to the Bourbon-Parma titles and claims, after Duke Carlos Hugo acknowledged the marriages of the then Princes Henri (now Grand Duke) and Jean jr. as morganatic.

Without the 1986 renounciation, the line of succession would be:
1. Prince Jaime, Count of Bardi, the brother of Duke Carlos; unmarried and without issue;
2. Prince Sixte Henri, younger brother of the late Duke Carlos Hugo and uncle of Duke Carlos and Prince Jaime; unmarried and without issue;
3. Grand Duke Jean of Luxembourg;
4. Grand Duke Henri of Luxembourg, GD Jean's eldest son; his descendants are excluded because of his morganatic marriage;
5. Prince Jean of Luxembourg, Jean's second son; his descendants are excluded because of his morganatic marriage;
6. Prince Guillaume of Luxembourg, Jean's youngest son; his descendants are excluded because of his morganatic marriage;
7. Prince Philipp, second cousin of Duke Carlos; his descendants are excluded because of his morganatic marriage;
8. Prince Alain, Philipp's younger brother; without issue;
9. Prince Michel, cousin of the late Duke Carlos Hugo and uncle of Philipp and Alain;
10. Prince Eric, first son of Michel;
11. Prince Michel, first son of Eric; unmarried and without issue;
12. Prince Henri, Eric's younger son; unmarried and without issue;
13. Prince Charles Emmanuel, Eric's younger brother;
14. Prince Amaury, Charles Emmanuel's son; unmarried and without issue;
15. Prince André, younger brother of Michel (n.5); his descendants are excluded because of his morganatic marriage;
16. Prince Remy, cousin of the late Duke Carlos Hugo; his descendants are excluded because of his morganatic marriage;
17. Prince Jean, younger brother of Remy; his descendants are excluded because of his morganatic marriage.

Thanks for the information. I know that sometime a question of validity of a renunciation can occur, is this a possible case for the former Grand Duke Jean of Luxembourg and his descendants?

If I have correctly understood, the book collects the memoirs of five Dutch politicians of their terms of office as Prime Minister of the Netherlands.

Off topic: is Piet de Jong related to Jan Hessel de Jong, the husband of Princess Maria Teresa of Orleans-Bragança?

I don't know if they are related, but "de Jong" is a name that is very common here in the Netherlands.

That's how I would have described it as well

Today, September 12, Annemarie's book presentation has taken place in Den Haag.
Princess Irene and Duke Carlos attended as well.

Why nobody of the Bourbon-Parma Dinasty was in Bucharest for the Jubilee of HM King Mihai I ?

The Grand Duke Henri ’s Grandfather was HRH Prince Felix of Bourbon Parme.
He assisted also the Funerals of the late Archduke Felix of Habsbourg.
I wonder who is really the head of the Bourbon Parma now ?

:previous:
Sons of Roberto I, Duke of Parma & Piacenza, reigned 1854-1859 (Parma annexed to the Kingdom of Italy) -1907:
> Enrico I, Duke of Parma & Piacenza 1907-1939 (mentally retarded, unmarried)
> Giuseppe I, Duke of Parma & Piacenza 1939-1950 (mentally retarded, unmarried)
> Elias I, Duke of Parma & Piacenza 1950-1959, father of:
> Roberto II, Duke of Parma & Piacenza 1959-1974 (unmarried)

Duke Roberto II was succeeded by the eldest surviving son of Duke Roberto I:
> Xavier, Duke of Parma, Piacenza and the Annexed States 1974-1977, father of:
> Carlos Hugo, Duke of Parma & Piacenza 1977-2010, father of:
> Carlos Javier, Duke of Parma & Piacenza 2010- , Head of the Royal House of Bourbon-Parma

Thanks Warren, lucky he was not excluded for his morganatic wedding . (see Mafan’s list above)

The status of his wedding does not affect Carlos Javier's position, but it may impact the dynastic status of any children.

An example of the childrens' dynastic status and right of succession being affected by "non-equal" marriage concerns Prince Pedro, Duke of Noto, only son of Carlos, Duke of Calabria, Head of the Royal House of the Two Sicilies [disputed by supporters of the 'rival' Duke of Castro].
Pedro has six children including four sons, the eldest born many years prior to his non-dynastic marriage. Although Pedro remains in line to succeed his father, none of the children, including the five born in wedlock, have dynastic status. After Pedro, the Headship will pass to another branch of the family.

Interesting Warren and what about the Girls of the Duke of Castro and the girls of the Prince of Venice?
Have they as girls a dynastic Status . Will the headship after their fathers go to Prince Umberto, Grandson of Prince Amedeo of Savoie
