Steve Berry wrote a great mystery novel (fiction of course) about the Amber Room. I really enjoyed the book. Wouldn't you love to see it?

They work Lex! Lovely!
Doesn't Tsarskoe Selo mean Tsar's village? How many dacha's are located in this "village"?

Yes, that is what it means. Wouldn't you love to go see the place Russo? More than 100 kilos of gold were used to gild the facade.

Can you imagine the characters in your book sipping Merlot in that ball room?

When there was not amber, areas of the walls were covered with canvas and painted in imitation of the stone by the artist Ivan Belskey.
In 1763 Empress Catherine II gave orders that the painted canvas on the lower part of the wall be replaced with newly-made amber panels. The craftsmen produced eight flat panels for the lower tier with a mosaic pattern.
