Castell-Rüdenhausen

Countess Elizabeth zu-Castell-Rüdenhausen died in Uffing on 1 August, 23 days before her 97 birthday.
She was fourth child and third daughter of Casimir, Prince of Castell-Rüdenhausen 91861-1933) & his wife Mechtild, nee Countess von Bentinck (1877-1940).
She was the last child of her parents to pass away.

In 1939 she married her cousin, Count Friedrich-Wolfgang zu-Castell-Rüdenhausen, third child and first son of her paternal uncle, Count Hugo zu-Castell-Rüdenhausen (1871-1936) & his wife Clementine, nee Countess zu Solms-Sonnenwalde (1881-1971).
He was eight years older than she and a year earlier divorced from his first wife, Princess Karoline-Mathilde of Sachsen-Coburg-Gotha (1912-1983), by whom he had three children: Bertram (b.1932), Conradin (b.1934) and Victoria (b.1935).
On 17 April 1940, their only son together, Hesso Friedrich, was born; unfortunately, 55 days later Friedrich-Wolfgang was killed in action near Portland, U.S.
14 moths after him his only brother Friedrich-Franz met the same destiny in Wiasowsky, Russia.
In 1944, within short period of time, sadness hit again the young widow: in action were killed also her two brothers: Rupert (in Romania on 19 August, aged 34) and Unico (in Latvia, exactly one month later, aged 21).
At the age of ten, she also lost her sister, Martha (aged 12; another sister, Maria died in 1980, aged 73, unmarried and childless).

Solms-Hohensolms-Lich

German birthright not for sale, politicians warned

Sydney Morning Herald, 28 September 2011

Germany's top judge has issued a blunt warning that no further fiscal powers may be surrendered to Europe without a new constitution and a popular referendum, vastly complicating plans to boost the European Union's rescue machinery to €2 trillion ($2.73 trillion). Andreas Vosskuhle, head of the constitutional court, said politicians do not have the legal authority to sign away the birthright of the German people without their explicit consent...

Prince Hermann Otto zu Solms-Hohensolms-Lich, the Bundestag's deputy president and finance chief for the Free Democrats in the ruling coalition, expressed outrage over the [government's] secret plans. ''Unless the German finance minister can give an immediate assurance that there will be no leveraged formula, I will not vote for this law. We might as well dispense with months of negotiations if all this means is that the Bundestag will be circumvented and served cold leftovers,'' he said.

I'm with the Prince on this one. Either it is government for and by the people, or it is not.

Castell-Rüdenhausen

Soon after Countess Elizabeth zu-Castell Rüdenhausen, later Mrs. Duvelius, her stepson passed away:

Count Conradin of Castell-Rüdenhausen died on 1 October, nine days before his 78th Birthday.

He was born in Berlin as second child of Friedrich-Wolfgang of Castell-Rüdenhausen (1906-1940) & his first wife, Princess Caroline-Mathilde of Sachsen-Coburg-Gotha (1912-1983).

As a boy he experienced many "whirlwinds" in his life:
In early 1938 his parents divorced.
In June the same year his mother married again to Max Schnirring, (17 years her senior) in the same year his half-sister Calma was born.
In April next year his father married again to his distant cousin.
And 13 and a half months later was killed in action in Portland, leaving half-orphans him, his two siblings and half-brother. (in the same year Conradin's other maternal half-sister, Sybilla, was born).
In July 1944 his stepfather was killed in car crash in Stralsund, a year after birth of Conradin's youngest half-brother, Michael.
In December 1948 his mother married for the third time, to Karl-Otto Andree, but they divorced already next year.

On 6 July 1961 he married in Helsinki Marta Lonegren (b.1939). Exactly nine months and one day later, their daughter Anne-Charlotte was born. They also had a son, Carl-Eduard, born15 March 1964.

Apart from his wife and children he is survived also by five grandson and one granddaughter, as well as brother Bertram (b.1932), sister Victoria (b.1935), half-brother Hesso (b.1940), half sisters Calma and Sybilla and their families (his youngest half-brother Michael predeceased him in 1966, aged 23)

Also Countess Michaela of Castell-Rüdenhausen died in Grunwald on 19 August.

She was born in Munich on 4 October 1945 as second daughter of Count Wulf of Castell-Rüdenhausen (1905-1980 ) & his second wife, Luise Ullrich (1911-1985).

She married in Kempten on 5 January 1968 Bernd Rosemeyer (b.1937).
Apart from her husband she is survived by her sister, Gabriele (b.1943)

Albrecht-Karl, 3rd Prince of Castell-Castell (b.1925) & his wife Marie-Louise, née Princess of Waldeck and Pyrmont (b.1930) had reasons to triple joy last year; they became grandparents for the 32nd time, as well as great-grandparents for the 10th and 11th time!

Their youngest son, Hereditary Count Ferdinand of Castell-Castell (b.20 May 1965) & his wife Marie-Gabrielle, nee Countess von Degenfeld-Schonburg (b.7 May 1971) had their fifth child, Johannes, in Wurzburg on 28 April.

A brother for Carl (15-5-2001), Benedicta (23-4-2003), Leontina (11-4-2006) & Floriana (8-6-2008).

The firstborn daughter of Albrecht-Karl and Marie-Louise, Philippa (b.1952), has six children and six grandchildren.
Both their older sons, Alexander (b.1954) and Georg (b.1956) also have five children, (like Ferdinand) and their youngest daughter Stephanie (b.1966) - four.
They had eight children in total but two of them died: Christina in 1964 (aged 2) & Maximilian in 1974 (aged 21)

Great grief has fallen on Count Ruppprecht-Maximilian von und zu Arco-Zinnebrg gennant Bogen (b.1941) & his wife Katharina, nee Countess Henckel von Donnersmarck (b.1943):

Their daughter, Countess Isabella-Gabriela von und zu Arco-Zinnebrg gennant Bogen died in Louvain, in January.

She was born in Munich on 5 December 1973 as the second child; she had older brother Aloys-Maximilian (b.1970). On 12 May she married in Schloss St. Martin Alexandre Stefanovich (b. in Washington on 17 November 1961).

Apart from her parents, brother and husband, she bereaved three children: Maximilian-Alexandre, Elisabeth-Eliane (twins, b.2001) and Karl-Ferdinand (DOB unknown).

So young a woman....So sad!

I have a very urgent question: Which languages does Prince Alois Konstantin zu Löwenstein-Wertheim-Rosenberg speak? Thank you!

Since Alois-Konstantin was born and lived in Germany whole his life, I would assume his first language to be German.
He was born in Wurzburg, grew up in Bronnbach, attended school in Milton and univeristy in his native Wurzburg.
The Prince worked mainly in Frankfurt and Munich, and currently lives in Kleinheubach.

In addition to German, I expect he's fluent in English, since he worked in the United States, first in a bank, then for Gulf Oil.
