Greek Royal Palaces and Residences

If you have answers, please help by responding to the unanswered posts.
Constantine just gave an interview to ABC magazine where it mentions they are renting a house in Porto Heli and that they also have a suite at a hotel in Athens where they stay. A couple of years ago it was said they had bought land in the Porto Heli area and were building a home, but it appears as thought that plan never came to fruition from what I can see, as nothing else has ever been said about it.

Thanks I remember reading something about that and was wondering if it had been built.

I pity the Tatói Palace. Seems to be abandoned.

And he has a property in the Peloponnese, and in my opinion his intention was to build a house to live in it, I think even it would be more profitable to pay rent, but I think when was published in the Greek press that could build a house, the press called it "new Tatoi" (the name didn´t liked to the Family), the communists, began to say that would have to expropriate again, and I think he doesn´t want problems with them, Tatoi was expropiated. He want to live in Greece, he doesn´t want problems.

Tatoi, this could be privatized, sold or operating with licenses.

When the Kings are in athens they reside in Britain Hotel, it has a plant for apartments.

What a lovely looking villa, hopefully we'll get to know more and see more photos soon!

I think this is the fourth or fifth house of which journalists speak, I remember a Patmos, it was said that he had bought it (the house was of Agha Khan), after they talk about another house in Athens, it was said that Constantine had bought it, .... then, other house in Porto Heli and other..... and after they spoke about a house that Constantine was building in the Peloponnese,"the New Tatoi"....and nothing was true...beautiful house.

First, Constantine can not buy in Greece because he has no legal personality, it is due to 1994 law, it is on the official website, and he mentioned this law in the ABC newspaper.
Protothema was the newspaper that said that Constantine was building a "new Tatoi" near Porto Heli, and other newspapers claimed he was moving to his new house ... but he was not building anything, it was not true,( I remember on the official website there was a statement asking that the news were rectified, ).:bang::eek:

The Kings of Greece live part of the year in Britain Hotel , Athens, on zone dedicated to apartments(he explained about it in ABC newspaper in june) and he said that in Porto Heli he lives in rented house . In 2003-2013 they lived in a house in Porto Heli, it was very open to the sea, but when they decided to settle permanently in Greece, they moved to another rented house in Porto Heli by motives of security, this home is inaccessible to the press:cool::cool:

I do not think the news is true, because they were moved to one house more safe, and this house as you can see in the picture, has a road from which you can see the pool , garden and the whole house,:sad::sad:

I think that it is like the NEw Tatoi of Protothema, :whistling::whistling: I remember that the press was saying that Constantine and Ana Maria lived in their new house, recently built, but New Tatoi not exist.:whistling::whistling:

New plans for Tatoi. They want to development in 2015 .Will become amusement park that combines culture and nature activities. Let's hope this time something happen is very same to be abandoned.

Well... something needs to be done. Tatoi looks really in poor state. It will cost a fortune to restore the house and the park around to its old splendour (another picture).

The State of Greece is bankrupt, the King has not enough funds, so maybe an "amusement park" is the only possibility. I doubt it will work, but okay.

I tell you the truth i doubt me too very but i want to hope.

King Constantine has sold his residence in Hampstead (North London), as he is planning to permanently reside in his new villa Porto Heli in Athens. The house in Hampstead is on sale for £11 million and is where King Constantine and his family have lived since they were exiled from Greece.

According to the article Prince Nikolaos lives in Greece, Princess Alexia lives in the Canary islands with her family and Prince Philippos lives in New York. (I think it is well known that CP Pavlos and his family live in London).

that really looks like it needs some help...

Thankfully the Mon Repos villa is a much better state of repair compared to the pityful state of the Tatoi Palace.

After having seen in my above post how beautiful remains until today the Mon Repos the summer residence of the royal family in Corfu we see now an unknown to most royal residence but for a very short time.
The little palace or governorate located in the second largest city of Greece, Thessaloniki. It was built in the period 1955-1960 for the government. In 1964 he was given the royal family to be installed there when we stayed in Thessaloniki. But after two years and after the King Constantine stayed only one night in the little palace because he preferred to stay in the hotel when they were in town the little palace was given over to the government.
And today? In 2006 it was closed for renovation. But no money , no renovation yet and this beautiful building remains abandoned to fate.

“In the meantime, in 1880, young architect Savvas Boukis was sent to St Petersburg with orders to copy a mansion that was in the royal complex of Peterhof. The construction of the main residence, or palace, based on these designs, started in 1884 and was completed in 1886, though matters of interior decoration and landscaping delayed the royal family of Constantine I and Sophia from moving in until 1889.”

As saying the article Tatoi is a copy of the "Farmhouse" belonging to assembly of palaces Peterhoff in St. Petersburg

I wonder how much was looted over the years and I agree that painting of Queen Anne-Marie is beautiful.

King Constantine can not buy the Palace? It's sad the State in which the Palace is.

This should have been returned to the King or sold to the King. It is reasonable that now, it is worse. Currently the State has other priorities, that is obvious, I do not criticize the current Greek rulers for not having invested in the estate or having sold it. I criticize the former Governments because, they could have did ....and they did not
