I'm sure Frederik knew the date long before we did, he just doesn't want to go and I think we need to get over it, if he REALLY wanted to go he would make every effort to go.

I wonder if Prince Albert and betrothed Charlene, Caro with a Casiraghi or any other Grimaldi is going to the wedding. I know that Rainier maintained cordial relations with the Greek Royal family especially Queen Sofia and personally attended the weddings of her daughters and was seated at the Head table; such was the regard for him. Does anybody know if Prince Albert with Charlene are invited and will attend?

And what proof do you have that he doesn't want to go? Even if he knew the date a month before we did, the possiblity exists that he could have comitted to attend these events BEFORE he knew of Nikolaos wedding date. Should he cancel his previous committments?

I can see if he was sailing for personal pleasure but he is working on behalf of the Danish people. Why isn't Benetidke getting the same type of scorn? Isn't she an Aunt like the Queen? Surely Princess Elizabeth can serve as Regent for a couple of days?

It's happening in Greece, surely there will be some coverage.
No the Greeks will not cover it especially if Theodore Panagalos gets a whiff that they are there.Unless he gets an invite to eat at the festivities. I also do not expect to see Liana Kanelli.I expect to see the Mitsotakis family there in fill force from Dora to her parents. Also the Varthinogiannis family. And maybe Zoe Laskari and lawyer husband Lykourezos.Zoe at her age can still upstage with her beauty and elegance any young woman. Maybe Andreas Samaras is invited who is the granson of Penelope Delta and head of the Conservative Party. I would love to see which of the resident Greeks will go and are invited.
Wonder if Tataina knows about the tradition of stepping on the bridegoom's foot at a certain part of the religious ceremony? Well she may be prompted or forfeit this old and rarely done nowadays tradition. I hope they hold hands in the Byzantine manner which is not standing apart but holding each others arms almost in a very different way.
Surely Diane Von Furstenberg will attend.

Frederik would have known the date whenever Niko and Tatiana chose it, however Youth Olympics has been planned for over 2 years, and the other event he is attending in singapore has more than likely been planned for over a year due to it being a 25th anniversary celebration.

He can't make the effort to go because duty comes first, if he was just going to a simple sailing event and not the wedding I could understand people being angry.

Yes I agree he should be going, but the events he's attending instead were planned before the wedding date was.

Yes 25th August is a wednesday. Because they obviously wanted that day.

Princess Elizabeth cannot serve as regent. She has never made the necessary oath before the State Council. Princess Elizabeth has never been a regent even when there was a shortage in the early 1970s when Benedikte wasn't available due to the fact that she had young children. Queen Ingrid was sworn in as regent instead, wives of kings aren't normally regents. (Neither are wives of princes, neither Mary nor Marie can be regents)

Duty comes first for royals! CP Frederik is also Denmark's IOC representative. He would have been roundly criticized by Danish Sporting organizations and the media if he missed his first Youth Olympics.

And Benedikte, who after all is Nikolas' aunt, is attending to her royal duty by being regent instead of going to the wedding.

The official activities of royals are planned well in advanced and they can't cancel official engagements just like that!

Very well said but the Greek media will cover it that's for sure.Theodoros Pangalos is a narrow minded miserable socialist i am convinced that he hates them so you're right.Liana Kaneli was very conservative and ended to be a hardcore communist.I personally ignore her and i think that there's no reason to respect a person like her,i believe that Constantine's family share the same feelings so..Mitsotakis family,Lykourezos couple and Vardinogiannis family (who own Star Channel and definetely will cover the event) yes,i also think they will be invited.I'll be surprised if i see Samaras there though. They get well with Mitsotakis family so it's tough to get well with him also.I expect to see Minoas Kyriakou there (the owner of ant1 channel and also a member at the Olympic Committee) and Antonis Lymperis with his wife Helena, the owners of Lyberis Publications (Life&Style magazine etc).

These are some of the families greek of the aristocracy that are guests: Vardoyannis, Livanos, Lapsis, Goulandris, Niarchos, and the monarchical famly as Thanolopolos and the Nomikos.. Policy of general importance,I think that could be Misotakis but I doubt about it..

The families you mention are very powerful and almost all of them are shipping heirs. It is very possible to see them there. And you are right about Thanopoulos, that's for sure.

Theodore Pangalos once threw me out of his office. It is a long story.Asking me how I kept my figure was enough he asked if there was diet book and I said if I gave it to him he would probably eat it. -But Liana Kanelli is a decent person[ at least she is not an atheist] though communist- she used to say hello to me every time we met outside the home of a very eponymous Greek. But knowingheras little as I do she would want the king to go to her office. Samaras I have to wonder about as he still needs the general vote and his going may well be interpreted as pro monarchy.I want to see what Zoe Laskari Lykourezos will wear- never mind the bride- what is Zoe going to wear? She has as much jewellery as any princess.
In Greece Zoe- is the nuclear arsenal of nobility glamour and elegance. Hope to see them all there-
That is going to be a beautiful wedding. for sure.......

First you criticize to the Principe Nikolas, and his wedding and then you do a list of wedding.. I do not see a interview to the Prince Nikolaos.

Well you pushed him to the limits. He's intelligent but very rude. And he has issues with accepting different points of view.Apparently he is not the only one.

Nikolopoulos are you answering to me?
It is a fact that i don't like Nikolao at all.But what's that supposed to mean, that i don't have the right to discuss about his wedding and his possible Greek guests? This is ridiculous, that's why it is called a discussion board.I also have made many possitive posts about Irene,Anna Marie and about their heritage. They don't count? Well i'm sorry for supporting my opinion..Don't be that narrow minded.

I am so glad I found this forum a couple of months ago. I'm in the U.S. and the nuptials of Victoria and Daniel were not mentioned in the mainstream media (unless I fell asleep). I wouldn't have known anything about it without this forum. I'm sure it will be the same with the media for the Greek wedding. Thanks to everyone for making comments and furthering my education re: royalty.

If he was that intelligent he would not be morbidly obese- he would have control of his own body. And then he would convince me that he could have a proper influence over the nation.
Maybe he will be able to smell the delicacies from Spetses wedding- which should be spectacular and wet his palate from afar as he is a glutton..
I wonder what the wedding tourta will be like or if they will have a wedding cake with many tiers.
What will the bombonieres be like? Kastalia give it up I want to get in to a suit by Louis Vuitton this fall and am refraining and exercizing to stay in shape-
Will the Grand Duchess and Duke of Luxembourg go? Have you any idea?
Are they still alowed to pelt the couple when the priest chants Isahaiah dance with rice.. at the religious service? Will Nikolas give Tatiana her floral bouquet as is the tradition in Greece at the church steps as he greets her I wonder if they will keep these traditions.
In a Greek wedding they do not necessarily meet inside the church but outside especially if the weather is conducive.

I've been waiting for *someone* to mention this very important fact about all of this. Not only is their Representitive, but isn't Frederick also the Danish Olympic Commitee President? As lovely as it would be for him to attend the Wedding, believe me when I say there would have been cries of protest that could have been heard on the Moon w/little problem if he didn't attend The Youth Olympics.

I honestly don't see what all the fuss is about frankly and I'm willing to bet that if the Bridal Couple heard about the fuss online about all of this, they'd be either laughing their heads off about it or thinking something else entirely. I'm sure they understand, especially as they picked a date in the middle of the week and not a weekend as is usual for most Weddings these days. Especially since the date wasn't announced until June. At least not publicly.

Anyway, time now to look towards the Wedding Day and if Mary's bump will be showing itself, as I'm sure that'll be next big thing. Almost as many photos of Mary will be taken along w/pictures of the Bride and her Attendants I'm willing to bet.
