I did not bother translating the article as the Gazette comes only in French. Also, prices may be different for subscriptions outside the French territory.

Thank you Idriel. I was a French and Spanish teacher here in the United States.

Wow!
I never realized just how many grandchildren Le Comte and La Comtesse de Paris had. Between them and the great-grandchildren, that is enough for a few baseball teams.
One could playfully say they could have been the "new" grandparents of Europe....had all their children and grandchildren married other royalty and nobility. :)

I believe some did marry other members of royalty....I think minor members and others married some aristocrats, but not too sure on the others.
What really fascinates me are the three claims to the French throne, the Orleans, Bourbon, and the Napoleonic claims..
believe the descendents of Napoleon should not have a claim as he essentially stole the throne after he became leader of France and crowned himself Emperor.

The Third Republic broke up the crown jewels in the auction of the (nineteenth) century to dispose of important symbols of royalty so that none of the prospective claimants would be able to reassemble the symbols of power.
Many of the jewels crossed the Atlantic to grace the dollar pprincesses of the USA.
Clotilde d'Orleans was absolutely gorgeous in her simple wedding gown and gorgeously coiffed hair. :)

Marie-Therese Charlotte, Madame Royale, daughter of Louis XVI and Marie Antoinette
Here is a website and a picture dedicated to Madame Royale and her memoirs. The picture is courtesy of the website also.

well they did not marry anybody from a reigning house. Marie of France (Henri and Marie-Therese's daughter married prince Gundakar of Liechtenstein, Philip of Wurttemburg married princess & Duchess Marie of/in Bavaria and Frieddrich of Wurttemberg married princess Marie zu Wied. The other grandchildren did not marry people form mediatised houses, nobility or commoners.

Not forgetting Princess Maria Paloma, daughter of Princess Anne of France and Carlos, Duke of Calabria, Head of the Royal House of Bourbon-Two Sicilies. She married Archduke Simeon of Austria. Not reigning, but certainly glittering!

you are right Warren! And they are one of my favourite royal couples of this moment, so very silly to forget! And another mistake I made: the Liechtenstein family is of course still reigning.
Does anybody know where the Duchess of Montpensier lives? I believe she is taking care of her handicapped children herself? An admirable woman!

Philippe Delorme on Regalis Genealogia made known that a little princess is born to prince Charles-Philippe of Orléans, duke of Chartres, and Ileana Manos: Isabelle, born on may 12th.

A tricky thing as LF was, I believe slightly involved on the attack on Hitlers life in 1944. They also put Mafalda of Hesse-Kassel, nee Italy and Antonia of Bavaria, nee Luxembourg in concentrationcamps I believe. Mafalda died there and Antonia died in the 50-ties as a result of this. (I believe she was escorted to the concentrationcamp by the Prince of Waldeck-Pyrmont).

How ironic it is that Norwegian skater Sonia Henie escaped having her house taken over by the SS by prominently placing an autographed pic from Hitler from the 1936 winter Olympics in her living room.

Didn't Charles-Louis date a sister of the Duchess of Brabant for a while, I believe it was Countess Elisabeth d'Udekem-d'Acoz?

Yes, he was seen out-and-about with her for a while. But he's still unmarried at 32. No spare Bavarian Princesses or Austrian Archduchesses to be found? :)

Yes, I realized my mistake. It's of course Charles-Louis d'Orléans.

Hi :) I realise there is some contention about who is the legit royals of France, but why is this man and woman in the running (if you can put it that way) ? I tried to look around for information on the net before, and I read just above that he calls France his land, but he wasn't born in France, and neither was his wife...were his parents? their parents? how long has he lived in France for? I thought he was Spanish so how if France his land?
From my veeeeeery little understanding I think he isn't the most superior but that the ones in Paris are... but I have only a vague understanding.
I recognise he has french royal ancestors, but what do you guys think? could he be more right in claiming the throne than any other french so called royal family?
I find this whole debacle very interesting, but there isn't a lot of information on it on the net. Some people say his claim is not legit, others don't. What of the royal family who lives in Paris?
also, do you think France will ever have a royal family again?
sorry for all the questions, but thanks if anyone answers them :p :)
