The Prince and the Duchess were in Cote D'Ivoire where the terrorist attack happened. They were in the resort and site the attack happened. The Prince tells French magazine Paris Match what they experienced at that moment, that he is glad of his time in the army so we could keep relatively cool and Diana's attitude of not panicking so they could escape.

The (short) history of this order from 1910 seems to be filled with schisms and fights, so I suppose it is an appropriate one for a member of the house of Orleans to be heading it. Or he was at least heading one of the French schisms until 2010 (?) when he was succeeded by the new grand master Count Jan Dobrzensky von Dobrzenic (standing next to him in the last picture). In 2010 was also convicted to 2 months of prison, perhaps that influenced the decision to repeal his grand mastership.

One wonders why they bother with such a hollow order -invented in 1910. Fancy dinners? A good opportunity to dress up like an operette prince?

The Event of Rougememont was really more theatral than interesting.
SAR le Prince Charles Philippe d' Orléans , Duc d' Anjou et Duc Consort de Cadaval was Great Master of the Order from 2004 to 2010. He resigned for personal reasons and is Honorory Great Master and Grand Prieur and seen at any event of the Order. The actual great Master is his uncle Count Jan Dobrzensky.
The Great Prieur for Belgium and Luxembourg is SE le Chevaier Damien van Bellinghen. He is pictured giving Prncess Marie Gabriella a present of the Order. In 2016 our Princess Lea received from him le Grand Cordon du Mérite de l' Ordre for her Charity Works.
The Ladies are in black . The glory is for the Men with White Uniform , green Sashes , great collar and black capes.

The Order asked Charity, Spirituality and Tradition.

They are such more important Orders.
