You know, if he were a female royal or noble newlywed, we would all be saying, "Maybe there's a baby on the way!" Sorry, that just struck me as humorous.

Give him a couple of years, he'll become fat. He's kind of a man with big bone that can absolve fat quickly. And since marrying a rich wife means idle life, it's destined to be fat.

I read in a french magazine that he waited three years to get engaged because he wanted to be sure that he was really in love. So, I don't think they will divorce.

Because General Franco chose Juan Carlos as his heir, not Don Alfonso?

It's a big can of worms,

short story King Alfonso XIII father of Don Jaime (LA's grandfather) made it know to many people even before they revolution that he expected his one healthy son Don Juan (Count of Barcelona ,father of King Juan Carlos) to succed him if the monarchy were to be restored in Spain. Also Don Jaime had renouced any claims on the throne but then years later mid 50's ?
changed his mind and persueded a clain to both Fance & Spain it caused a big rift between the two brothers :( and upset the mother Quenn Ena. Franco used that information to dangle the "carrot=succer to him " in each branch of the family. It was around 1968 after the birth of Felipe, that Juan Carlos became known as "Prince of Spain" Franco did encourage the LA's father to assume he was recongnised and royal and by marrying Carmen be the King but as we all know that didn't happen.
I dont thinkthe Spanish Royals family hates LA I just think they (King JC) just wants him to know he (LA) has no place in their offical line and treat him as a distant relation if LA gave up all the French & Spanish claims they would probably be friendler to him.

Thank you Wittykitty for your perfect contribution. I just wanted to add that, according to french royal laws (Les lois fondamentales du royaume) Luis cannot give up his claim to the french throne. He is the first in male line in the House of Bourbon (l'AINE de la Maison de Bourbon). According to french royal laws. France were to go back to kingdom, no one else could be crowned king.

not sure the Comte de Paris - the Orleans claimant - would agree to that - and ain´t a descendant of Napoleon claiming to be the right heir as well?
