The Charles who thought he was made of glass was "mad" in other ways. It is written in records that he killed some of his men in a fit of rage, not even knowing what he was doing, and then was very sorry. He and his wife were among the highly inbred royals, and the Valois line, in my estimation, harbored a rare genetic disease. His daughter Katherine of Valois married Henry V, and had a son by Henry who was not fit to rule, from what I have read. Katherine married Owen Tudor and the children of that marriage became the Tudor monarchy, and the Tudor line contributed to the genetic defect which probably made Mary Queen of Scots ill. I have recently read more information on Mary's illnesses, which are rarely discussed, but she had them. Her son James VI/I carried on with the defect, one of the most observed royals from a medical point of view. And so...onward....the defect may have been pretty well bred out by now, I should add, because of less frequent close inbreeding, and sheer "luck" or grace in the genetic roulette.

Henri, the Count of Chambord (Henri V) had the name of Dieudonne as one of his middle names. Dieudonne means "God-given". Henri's ancestor, Louis XIV was referred to as Louis-Dieudonne.
The Prayer Book of Claude de France is a tiny, jewel-like manuscript that was made for Claude (1499-1522) around 1517.
1517 is the year she was crowned Queen of France.
The Prayer Book has 132 scenes from the lives of Christ, the Virgin Mary, and numerous saints.
Toward the end of his reign, King Louis XV founded departments in physics and mechanics at the College de France.
King Henri II placed so much trust in his maitresse de titre, Diane de Potiers, that they generated and signed government documents.
King Henri would begin a letter.
Diane might finish it. At the bottom, the signature would read HenriDiane.
