Gareth Gates is to perform a free gig for the Sultan of Brunei.
He has reportedly become friendly with the royal family of Brunei while promoting over there. A source close to the Pop Idol runner-up said the New Year's Eve gig is a favour for the Sultan and his family. Gareth's Brunei gig marks a successful year for him overseas, despite the fact he has struggled in the UK, reports the paper. In the past, the Sultan of Brunei has paid £1 million to hear performances from stars such as Whitney Houston and Michael Jackson. ---Gareth Gates was supposed to perform in Brunei on New Years Eve 2004 in a public concert too, but His Majesty cancelled all N.Y entertainment, in light of the Tsunami Disaster..So Gareth flew here, but never performed publicly and tickets were refunded. I wonder if the Royals' private gig was cancelled too? |

Movie producer PRINCE AZIM has secured R+B beauty ALICIA KEYS and OSCAR-winning actress FAYE DUNAWAY to star in his first film.
The Brunei royal became a Hollywood player at just 22-years-old after failing to win a place at Britain's prestigious Oxford University, but he is currently jetting around the globe to secure locations for his first big screen movie. Azim says, "I'm co-producing a movie which is going to star Faye Dunaway and Alicia Keys. "It's great fun, but it's keeping me pretty busy at the moment. "I'm spending most of my time jumping around between Brunei, London and the United States." 20/02/2005 10:47 I didn't know that he failed to get into Oxford, is that true? I know for a fact that P. Azim is studying in London, and I thought it was at Oxford University..nevertheless - interesting article. Not many people in Brunei know about it. |
