Ephram,did you know that the State of Kelantan has now issued its own gold coins? Here's an article; http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kelantanese_dinar .

Do you agree with my use of the English spellings for the names of the Malayan states? It is what I am so used to,as I am not familiar with the Malayan language form of spelling. I do have a Malaysian postal order from Pahang,which was paid in Sarawak.I do have some Sarawak issues of Malaysian postal orders,which have been paid within Sarawak.

Hello Aidan,

About the Dinar in Kelantan, yes, they are now start issuing the gold coins. It's only applicable to that state and not to the entire Malaysia. However, one thing for sure is Malaysian Ringgit (RM) is widely used in Kelantan and of course in all states in Malaysia. It is the official and valid currency of Malaysia, nothing else. I haven't been to Kelantan yet to see how things go on, perhaps any Kelantanese who visit this board could tell us more of this but don't let it dominate our discussion as this is clearly a Royal Forums to discuss on Royalty and Nobility.

Postal order is the same in all states, all places in Malaysia.

Regarding the issue of the name of the states, I think it is rather safe to follow the Malay form of spelling. I'm not saying that the English form is wrong but since the government of Malaysia has projected the spelling to be so, then we follow them.

If you read the English mainstream newspapers The Star and The New Straits Times (I'm not sure whether they are considered as the voice of government/government sponsored or not, but it seems that they are on the side of Malaysian government)- Johore (in English form as you said) they write it as Johor, Trengganu (as you said), they write it as Terengganu.

But I think those do not matter most, because the thing that we focus on this board is the 9 Royal Families which exist in Malaysia.

Default Farewell ceremony steeped in tradition for the King
KUALA LUMPUR: A traditional procession depicting the era during the Malay Sultanate will mark the official departure of the 12th Yang di-Pertuan Agong Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin Syed Putra Jamalullail and Raja Permaisuri Agong Tuanku Fauziah Tengku Abdul Rashid to Perlis tomorrow.
The royal couple will be accompanied by 28 chieftains in traditional royal house costumes with an elephant at the head of the procession, said Culture, Arts and Heritage Minister Datuk Seri Dr Rais Yatim.

On the link below is stated that the new Sultan of Malaysia and his Consort have four children, two boys and two girls.
It's also stated that the Sultan is married secondly. Is he? And who is his second wife and what role will she have as second Sultan's wife?

Default The 13th King of Malaysia Succeeded The Thrones
As you all know, every 5 years, Malaysian choose their new Kings, wtih the title of Yang DiPertuan Agong (The Supreme Lord). The Kings candidates is among the 9 Sultan, who reign in Malaysian's states. This year, His Majesty Syed Sirajudin (the 12th Yang DiPertuan Agong) finished his duties. And the new king is choosen.

HRH Sultan Mizan Zainal Abidin Ibni Almarhum Sultan Mahmud Al-Muktafi Billah Shah, the ruler of Trengganu State is the 13th Yang DiPertuan Agong of Malaysia. his wife, HRH Sultanah Nur Zahirah, is named the Permaisuri Agong (The Grand Queen Consort) of Malaysia. The Royal couple from now, untill 5 years latter, will act as Malaysian Head of State, and stay in the National Palace, in downtown Kuala Lumpur.

The thirteenth King of Malaysia Sultan Mizan Zainal Abidin (L) has his ceremonial dress adjusted by Queen Nur Zahirah (R) during his welcoming ceremony at the Parliament in Kuala Lumpur, 13 December 2006. Malaysia's unique revolving monarchy was passed on 13 December to the youthful sultan of oil-rich Terengganu state, a keen rider who has represented his country at international events. Sultan Mizan Zainal Abidin, at 44, is Malaysia's second-youngest king ever, and is to serve a five-year term in the capital Kuala Lumpur after he was sworn in at a solemn ceremony at the king's palace. The thirteenth King of Malaysia Sultan Mizan Zainal Abidin (R) walks with Queen Nur Zahirah (C), while escorted by Malaysian Prime Minister Abdullah Ahmad Badawi (L), during the king's welcoming ceremony at the Parliament in Kuala Lumpur, 13 December 2006.

On Wednesday 13 th December is oath ceremony only,
For coronation ceremony is actually on June 2007 if I not mistaken,

heard that regalia's belonging to the sultanate of terrenganu ( the current Agung) is stolen.... any news abt it?

It wasn't actually regalia, but artefacts from the Museum of Terengganu said to be displayed at Istana Melawati the retreat residence of the Yang DiPertuan Agong. The Royal Regalia of Terengganu will always stay in the state of Terengganu, they will be carried nowhere as they are only used for the ceremonies involving the Sultan of Terengganu in his realm.

The current Sultan of Terengganu is now the King of Malaysia. And there are regalias for the King of Malaysia, distinct from the states' ones.

June is annually the month for the official birthday celebration of the King of Malaysia which falls on first week of Saturday every year, therefore I think it would be a hectic month for the palace and the government should the Installation take place in June.

# As King of Malaysia does not wear crown or to be crowned, it is usually called Installation Ceremony (in Malay language 'Istiadat Pertabalan') and not Coronation- only certain Sultans in Malaysia have their Coronation Ceremonies in their respective states such as Selangor, Terengganu, Kelantan and probably Johor.

Default King and Queen receives Federal Orders
Last Thursday 5 April 2007, His Majesty Sultan Mizan Zainal Abidin and Her Majesty Sultanah Nur Zahirah received the The Most Exalted Order of the Royal Family of Malaysia and The Most Exalted Order of The Crown of The Realm- the highest Orders of Malaysia, marking the first step to their Installation Ceremony as King and Queen of Malaysia.

Yes, the Installation Ceremony will be held this Thursday 26 April 2007.

The banners of the new portrait of the Royal Couple are just everywhere here in Kuala Lumpur. If you could just take a moment to browse the Fotoweb section of Bernama News Agency you will find some pictures of the preparation, the workers painting the wall of the Palace Gate.

Since last week I have seen the workers setting up yellow tent in front of the Palace.

The mood of that splendour will start tonight with TV3 airing an exclusive documentary on Sultan Mizan and Sultanah Nur Zahirah at 9pm.
