PHNOM PENH : Cambodia's king has pardoned exiled opposition leader Sam Rainsy who was sentenced to jail for defamation, in a move officials said was at the request of Prime Minister Hun Sen.

"Convict Sam Rainsy ... is pardoned," a statement from the palace read out on state television said.

The decision comes two days after Sam Rainsy recanted accusations that Prime Minister Hun Sen was behind a deadly 1997 grenade attack and other violent acts against his party.

Probably it was already said, but the successor to the Cambodgian throne was perhaps already chosen? I mean, King Norodom Sihamoni is not married and he probably will not marry.
By the way, he is very goodlooking!

Hun Sen accuses Royal family to want to subvertir Constitution

Cambodian prime minister, Hun Sen, today accused some members of the real family to want to subvertir the Constitution so that the ex- monarch Norodom Sihanouk can participate in the policy, and clarified that in that case he will not doubt in resorting to the Army to avoid it.
In an intervention televised from the province of Kampong Chhnang, Hun Sen sent a serious warning to its partner of Government, prince Norodom Ranariddh, that recently has asked in public its father, Norodom Sihanouk, that between in the political sand.
It also had words for prince Sisowath Thomico, ex- adviser of Sihanouk and founder of the new party Sangkum Cheat Niyum, that the last week appealed in the Parliament to a vote from confidence to the present Government and did not urge to the octogenario ex- monarch that it guides the destinies of Cambodia.
“If you attack to me through the military, I will use the troops. If you attack to me through the law, I will use the law. If you attack to me using the psychological war, I will use the television”, indicated Hun Sen.
