Emir of Kuwait, 79, Dies

By MICHAEL SLACKMAN and NEIL MacFARQUHAR
Published: January 15, 2006

CAIRO, Jan. 15 - The emir of Kuwait, Sheik Jaber al-Ahmad al-Sabah, a low-key ruler who helped guide his people through the long days when Iraq's military occupied, looted and ransacked their small, oil-rich nation, died this morning after a long illness. He was thought to be 79.

Sheik Jaber al-Ahmad al-Sabah.

In a region where heads of state tend to live extravagantly, residing in multiple palaces and traveling with entourages, Sheik Jaber stood out for his modest style. He declined to put his own image on the nation's currency, lived in what Kuwaitis considered a relatively simple home and was buried today in an unmarked grave.

Thanks for the link. I missed the funeral on Sunday.

I have questions:

1. Will there be any occassion when people and leaders give baiah to the new Emir Sheikh Saad?

2. When is the Coronation/Enthronement/Swearing in etc Ceremony for the new Emir?

first you are welcome

the answers for your questions :

1 - every thing relat to the new amir will be in parliament , and he the only one who can chose the new crown prince but if the parliament didn't agree on his choice he should give another names , although every one know that the new amir is very sick but I think every one will support him .

2 : I don't think there will be any ceremony for the new Emir , the people now in the palace to condonlence him and that's it .

every thing here very simple and move smothely becuase every one know his place .
