Is Marie Astrid now known as HI&RH Archduchess Marie Astrid of Austria? Or is she still known as HRH Princess Marie Astrid of Luxembourg?

Yes, it seems this is generally the case - I was just wondering because I've never really heard Marie Astrid referred to as Archduchess Marie Astrid :)

Ahhh... yes, you're right :) So, Caroline is technically Princess of Hanover (even though hardly anyone calls her that), therefore Marie Astrid could be the same. That's probably because the Hanovers and the Habsburgs aren't reigning families anymore...

Ah ha! That's actually a question with a very long answer - but I won't bore you all... For the "main" line of the Habsburgs, the head of the House is Archduke Otto of Austria! Carl Christian is Otto's nephew.

That's right, Karl was the last Emperor of the Austrian empire and the last monarch of the Habsburg dynasty. On 11/11/1918 (the end of WWI and the collapse of the Central Powers) he formally relinquished participation in the administration of state. Karl fled to Switzerland and was never able to regain his throne.
