Prince Guillaume and Princess Sibilla as well as the other four children and some grandchildren had come to the receipt. There for the moment still none are pictures.

the reception probably.
A bit late, but my best wishes for GD Jean! I hope he is coping well without his wife, they always seemed such a charming couple!
BTW does anybody know if Josephine-Charlotte wore two tiara's at her wedding (not at the same time). The picture dimal posted shows the one Sybilla is wearing quite often these days while on images I have seen I always saw the diademe her daughters and Marie-Theresa wore on their wedding days as well (such a beautiful, simple tiara).

She did wear two tiaras, one for the ceremony and one for the pictures. The ceremony tiara was [IIRC] the Congo Necklace tiara, and the picture tiara was the Belgian Empire tiara [which she famously lent to her daughter-in-law Sibilla, but not to Maria-Teresa].

Is this the same one that MT only wore after JC died?

To the best of my recollection, Maria Teresa has never worn the Belgian Empire tiara at all....and I've only seen her with the Congo Necklace tiara on her wedding day. She seems to favor the Chaumet pearl tiara and the aquamarine bracelet tiara. I'll try and find some pictures later.

Here are some beautiful pics from Grand Duke Jean's life which haven't been posted yet.

I'm sure all the people of Luxembourg are missing this Wonderful Lady very much. She is the personified Elegance, imo.

Perhaps the heirs prefer the cash to the goods?

I heard that it is because they couldn't decide how to divide them between the heirs to the estate. Apparently because J-C wasn't too keen on M-T, the daughters didn't want any personal items to fall on her hands and opted to sell instead. So incredibly sad to think about that; going under the hammer are such items as GDss J-C's wedding tiara, a necklace that was given to Queen Astrid (her mother) as a wedding gift by hubby Leopold III and many other items of historical value too.

Ah well, royals are people like everyone else :ermm:

Grand Duchess Joséphine-Charlotte as a Grandmother

Does anyone know/have articles or photos of GD JC in her role as grandmother? What was she like? Was she nice to GC Henri & Gd Maria-Theresa's children?

from what all i've heard/read, she was a pretty darn good grandmother. she was very close to all of her grandchildren and they to her. if you want more info/proof, go over to her funeral thread under this particular forum.
