Princess Nobuko visited Kagawa Prefecture May 24-25.

On May 24th, she visited a special exhibition of "Aquatic animals and plant illustrations compiled by Matsudaira, Lord of Takamatsu" at Kagawa Prefectural Museum.

Princess Nobuko visits Ibaraki Prefecture May 28-29.

On May 28th, she visited a nursing home and a rose garden in Chikusei. Princess Nobuko planted "Princess Nobuko" roses; she is Honorary President of the Japan Rose Society. She also visited Hirosawa Museum of Art and attended a welcome reception at Tsukuba.

On May 29th, she will visit Buddhist temple Amabikisan Rakuhōji (Amabiki Kannon) and an elderly facility in Sakuragawa.

On June 13th, Princess Akiko attended the opening ceremony of "The Treasures and the Tradition of "Lâle" in the Ottoman Empire" exhibition at Kyoto National Museum of Modern Art. The exhibition is held within the scope of the "2019 Turkish Cultural Year" in Japan and runs June 14 - July 28.

On June 15th, Princess Akiko gave a lecture on "The British Museum and Japanese Art" at the 32nd Life Welfare course organized by Arinomama in Sendai, Miyagi Prefecture. The social welfare corporation Arinomama organizes events to fund services helping people with disabilities.

Arinomama was founded by 3 brothers with muscular dystrophy. Under the leadership of the late Prince Tomohito of Mikasa, the organization provides a range of activities and services such as publications, movies, educational courses, and housing. The annual Life Welfare course focuses on 3 themes: life, welfare, and culture.

Princess Akiko's cultural organization Shinyusha hosted workshops on June 20-21 for Dazaifu Tenmangu kindergarten. They visited Suzukake traditional sweets factory and attended a Japanese tea workshop with Hoshi Tea.

On July 4th, Princess Yoko attended the selection for winners of the 21st Independence Awards in Sendai, Miyagi Prefecture. The award ceremony will be held on July 13th and honors people with disabilities and support organizations.

On July 8th, the IHA announced Princess Yuriko will be in mourning for 30 days after the death of her sister Kinuko (97) on the 7th.

On June 7th, Princess Akiko gave lecture entitled "Japanese Art: Studying in Britain" at a 2-day Shinto course hosted by the Shinto Denomination Association in Tokyo. Many participants were surprised how foreigners perceive Japanese Art. Princess Akiko also visited the "Sanjo Doctrine and Shinto Pedagogy" exhibition at Kokugakuin University Museum.

The late Prince Tomohito set four pillars of "Welfare Welfare," "Sports Promotion," "Youth Development," and "International Friendship" as the center of his activities.

Princess Nobuko visited Fukushima Prefecture July 18-19 for the the 130th anniversary of the Japanese Red Cross Society Fukushima Prefecture Branch. She also encouraged patients at a new rehabilitation center at Fukushima Red Cross hospital.

I wonder what is contained in those "surprising" perceptions. Are foreigners perhaps only aware of a limited selection of traditional Japanese art forms?

I didn't know Princess Yuriko had a living older sister. One hopes having a close family member to rely on assisted her in coping with the loss of her three sons and more recently her husband.
