Japanese Princess Takamado smiles as she receives a mascot of the 2006 FIFA World Cup Germany, "Goleo", from Franz Beckenbauer, German football great and president of 2006 World Cup organizing committee, in Tokyo, 06 October 2005, while Japan's J-League Urawa Reds head coach Guido Buchwald applauds. Beckenbauer is now here for the promotion of next year's World Cup football event.
All photos from Newscom Japan Tokyo, 6 October 2005 Japan’s Crown Princess Takamado, who had already been guest of honour last summer at the FIFA Confederations Cup, posed with Germany’s Franz Beckenbauer in front of a mini replica of the football globe which is promoting the 2006 FIFA World Cup around the world. Stuttgart’s FIFA World Cup ambassador Guido Buchwald, who coaches the Urawa Red Diamonds and calls Tokyo his second home, was also present here. Buchwald won the FIFA World Cup in 1990, and received the Baden-Württemberg order of merit from German ambassador Henrik Schmiegelow for promoting German-Japanese relations. Princess Takamado was even more pleased, however, since she had asked for a cuddly toy version of Goleo VI, the FIFA World Cup mascot, and ended up taking a four foot replica of the lion home to her palace. The media presence was also bordering on record-breaking proportions, with 150 reporters on hand. http://fifaworldcup.yahoo.com/06/en/060104/1/5sad.html Last edited by mandyy; 01-19-2006 at 03:25 PM. |
