It has been reported that Crown Princess Masako is highly unlikely to join the Imperial family during Spanish state visit.

The strong character of Queen Sofia is admirable.

Any pictures of official welcoming ceremony with japanese imperial family? Will it be state banquet tonight?

Perhaps the sort of formality that necessarily accompanies any events involving the Emperor and Empress makes them too stressful for her right now. :ermm: I hope that will will see Masako in a tiara again one day.:flowers:

You are probably right. Crown Princess Masako and Crown Prince Naruhito gave a private dinner for British Crown Princely couple. That was a semi-official engagement carried out in the comforts of Japanese Crown Princely couple's house, which eased the level of stress for Crown Prince Masako. The same does not apply to the Spanish State visit, which is expected to be formal.

The Welcoming Ceremony has been taking place, and really surprising, Crown Princess Masako was attending it!I believe this is the very first time in for quite so long years since she last attended an event as such.

Wow princess Masako look realy great at the welcoming ceremony.

It is nice to see that Crown Princess Masako participated in the welcome ceremony alongside the Imperial family. An emerald-colour suit enhanced her complexion.

Queen Sofia looked radiant in a red gala, which seems to be her favourite colour during this visit, with colourful shawl. Empress Michiko is elegant as usual.

Queen and Empress wearing tiaras should not kiss each other.
How many kts to-gether ?

Why shouldn't Queen Sofia and Empress Michiko kiss each other? Is it against the protocol?

Crown Princess Masako looked very pretty at the welcome ceremony.

Did CPs Masako or other members of Imperial Family take part in state gala? Do you have pictures of them?
It was nice to see Queen wearing the most impresive of spanish royal tiaras.

Based on the photos at hand, it might safely be assumed that Crown Princess Masako only participated in the welcome ceremony. This, in itself, is the really good news!

Wow, must say Princess Masako looks stunning!!

It is true, i have just seen some pictures and I believe Princess Masako was not present for the State Banquet, but instead it was Princess Kiko sitting alongside the Crown Prince. But it can be understandable for Masako, she would have tried already for the Welcoming Ceremony, it's her first in 5 years, so it would take her quite some times for a more regular schedule
