japan is such an amazing country - i am very much looking forward to this state visit! fantastic timing to go too, as i believe it is cherry blossom season. i wonder if felipe and letizia have some cherry blossom sightings in their schedule or maybe they can go incognito to catch a glimpse of it if the schedule allows... :)

With the time difference they have made a mistake in the web of Casa Real, the events are 5, 6 and 7.

They will see the cherry trees on the last day. The Japanese government has always wanted to keep the same dates for the trip (last year and this year) for that reason.

They will have a full day of travel on plane to Japan. Will it be 7 hours on board? More? When they arrive in Japan it will be already the 4th, since they haven't departed yet from Spain and in Japan it's 6pm right now.

Close to 12 hours of travel to get to Jaoan.

The King and Queen depart from Adolfo Suarez airport in Madrid for Japan, nice sunny weather for the ceremony.

Pretty standard. The sovereign is awarded the chrysanthemum. The consort depends on gender. Henrik and Claus recieved the order of the paulownia flowers. Since 2003 it has been its own order, but at the time both men recieved it, it was the highest rank of the order of the rising sun. Philip seems odd one out, that he has the chrysanthemum. Letizia is getting the same order as other female consorts like her mother in law and Silvia.

Is dinner in honor of the Kings of Spain today or tomorrow?

Japan is ahead of Europe time zone, they're almost on the 5th of April.

I wonder why there isn't any more pictures right now, it's 11pm already. The state dinner already happened.

EDIT:
Someone said that the welcome ceremony is on Wednesday morning, then why the official program listed it for today?

I believe both the welcome reception and the state dinner will be on Wednesday. That is why there aren't any pictures.

According to the website of the Spanish Royal House the state dinner is on Wednesday. Tomorrow is the official program of the visit.

letizia looked quite tired, understandably, on her arrival to japan. i guess this reminds us that kings and queens are also humans - their hair looks just as messed up as ours after we fly long haul and their eyes look as tired as ours :) good thinking to give them a bit of rest today before the state visit starts tomorrow.

where are they staying? are they guests of the emperors at the palace, maybe, as it will happen in the state visit to the UK where they will stay in buckingham palace as guests of the queen?
