The Princes of Asturias travel to Japan

The Princes of Asturias left at 17:15 today to Japan from the airport of Barajas in Madrid, to start a visit that will last until Sunday the day when, before coming home, they'll visit the Aichi Expo.

Don Felipe and doña Letizia are travelling in a plane of the Spanish Air Force that will land in Japan in Thursday evening.

The schedule of the visit, which aims to narrow the relationship between both countries, will not star until Friday, when the Princes will preside the VIII Forum Spain-Japan that will happen at the Spanish Embassy in Tokyo.

In this same day, in the evening, there'll be a dinner offered by the Emperor and Empress, Akihito and Michiko, to the Princes at the Imperial Palace.

On Saturday, the Princes of Asturias will offer, at midday, a reception to the Spanish community that lives and works in Japan, before traveling to Nagoya, the fourth most important city of the country, that is on southeast, where, since March 25th, the Universal Expo is open.

On the following day, Saturday, they'll visit the Expo, which was opened led by the motto: "The wisdom of the Nature" and hopes to receive 15 millons of visitors during the six months it'll last.

Don Felipe and doña Letizia will visit a lot ov pavillions, specially the Japanese and the Spanish, which has the motto: "To share is the art of life".

The princes will go back to Tokyo on Sunday afternoon to, before coming back to Spain, have dinner with Crown Prince Naruhito and his wife, Crown Princess Masako at the Akasaka Palace, where the couple lives.

On 2008, the AICHI Expo will be held in Zaragoza, Spain. The theme will be the water and its problems.

So, Letizia is making the trip after all...
It must be so tyring... I hope the nauseas will not punish her too hard...

The princes of Asturias travel to Japan to visit the Expo de Aichi

MARIÁNGEL ALCÁZAR - 02/06/2005
TOKIO

The princes of Asturias arrive today at Tokyo after surpassing the twelve flight hours, plus the seven of hour difference, that separate Madrid of the Japanese capital. Don Felipe and Doña Letizia travel to Japan with the objective to visit the Expo de Aichi.
Yesterday, in average afternoon, Don Felipe and Doña Letizia they took off on Barajas on board off an official airplane of the Spanish Air Force used normally for the trips of State. The House of the King chose this option, as opposed to the one of the regular flight or a smaller official airplane, to facilitate the trip to the Princess, pregnant of 16 weeks, since the Airbus is formed, in its front part, with two rooms that include bed. In the security of the Princes appears a doctor.

Until only yesterday the uncertainty stayed about the possibility that the princess was finally low in the trip. The House of the King has prepared the trip giving by made the presence of Doña Letizia in Japan and the program with this premise has been elaborated, although the spokesmen of the Zarzuela always have put upon the table the eventuality of which the doctor who takes care of the princess advised against the trip.

The displacement to Japan was programmed several months ago and existed the commitment of the House of the King to the organizers of the Expo of which the princes of Asturias would visit the Spanish pavilion of Aichi. The trip had been prepared for the month of April, period in which the inheriting princes of Holland, Guillermo and Maxima traveled to Japan, and those of Denmark, Federico and Mary. As much Maxima Zorreguieta as Mary Donalson was pregnant women, first of five months, and second, of three.

The incipiente pregnancy of Doña Letizia prevented to program the visit for the month of April and it was delayed until June in order that she had surpassed the 16 weeks of gestation. The commitments acquired with Japan have forced the House of the King to follow with the plans, although they was afraid that the annoyances of the princess put in danger their presence in this pasís. Finally, yesterday, with the permission of her doctor, Doña Letizia rose the airplane to Tokyo.

The Princes left yesterday in the evening Madrid and is predicted that today at noon (seven hours less in Spain) they arrive at the Japanese capital. The program of the visit will begin tomorrow Friday with the attendance of the Princes to the inauguration of VIII the Forum Spain-Japan and at night they will go to the Imperial Palace, to have supper with emperors Akihito and Michiko.

Saturday, Don Felipe and Doña Letizia will offer a reception to the Spanish colony in Japan, before traveling to Nagoya, capital of the province of Aichi, where Universal Exhibition 2005 is located. The princes of Asturias will return to Tokyo and that same day they will have supper with the inheriting prince, Naruhito, and his wife, Masako. According to the official program, Don Felipe and Doña Letizia will be received solely by the Japanese heir, since princess Masako, although will participate in the supper, will not appear in public.

Felipe de Borbón and his wife, Letizia Ortiz, travelled to Japan, where they will stay for three days. The personal doctor accompanies the princess, since she has already turned her fourth month of pregnancy. This is her first long distance trip, since the pregnancy announcement.

The main reason for the trip of the Princes will be the visit to the Universal Exhibition of Aichi, although the program also includes their participation in the VIII Forum Spain-Japan, which will be celebrated at the Spanish embassy in Tokyo. That same day, prince Felipe and his wife will be received by the emperors of Japan, Akihito and Michiko, who will offer them a dinner at the Imperial Palace and, on the following day, they are expected to meet the Spanish community in Japan. Afterwards, they will travel to Nagoya, capital of the province of Aichi, to attend the Universal Exhibition 2005, entitled 'The wisdom of Nature’.

On Sunday, June 5th, the princes of Asturias will visit the Expo and return, on the very same day, to Tokyo. There, they shall have dinner with Crown Prince Naruhito and his wife, Masako, at the Palace of Akasaka.

This purse of Letizia is so cute: there's a baby-purse attached to the mother-purse! A perfect metaphor of her state! :)

Because she's naturally thin. I doubt that she will balloon into her pregnancy. I guess she wouldn't have to worry about losing the baby weight after giving birth.

The Princes of Asturias will preside tomorrow over the VIII Forum Spain-Japan, which is celebrated at the Embassy of Spain in Tokyo, with the attendance of high Japanese and Spanish authorities. The Forum Spain-Japan is a promotional instrument of the bilateral relations (in all the political, economic, social and cultural scopes), which is supported by the Ministries of Outer Subjects of both countries. It was created in 1997 and this is the eighth edition of the Forum.

The Spanish and Japanese delegations are formed by personalities from culture, enterprise, policy and administration of both countries. During the working sessions, which will be celebrated on Friday and Saturday, the participants will debate matters like the mutual promotion of tourism, the state of both economies, cultural interchanges, the teaching of languages, alternative energies, democracy and public opinion, as well as other subjects of the international agenda.

He could've helped his lovely pregnant wife to get out of the van. Booooo Felipe! I guess Papa JC didn't teach him that.

A few more arrival images from Hola along the same lines as the others.

According to Hola tomorrow's dinner at the Imperial Palace is a Gala--but we'll have to wait and see, Hola is, as we all know, not all that reliable.

That would be great but I somehow doubt it. Haakon and Frederik&Marys dinner with the Imperial couple was just a regular suit dinner.

Larzen I have seen photos of Hakoon, and Federico and Mary with Naruhito, but not with Akihito and Michiko, they met with them? The one of the Gala dinner also seems rare to me.

lapopdiva, that man must be a bodyguard

I believe this information is not accurate (though it would be lovely to see Letizia wearing a gala dress again. How long since last time she wore one?).

At the Royal House website, they classified both dinners (With the Emperor and Empress and with the Crown Princes) as "Cena" if it was supposed to be a gala dinner, it would be classified as "Cena de gala".

Let's keep our fingers crossed to see if the Emperor and the Empress have changed their minds and decided to offer a gala dinner instead of a regular one...

Haakon and F&M with the Emperor and Empress (The admin can remove this post\pictures if they dont want it in this tread:) ) I just cannot imagine that the Emperor would treat the visiting royal different so I think no gala dress. Sniff. We`ll have to wait for the next statevisit

Whoa, Felipe will definitely tower over the Japanese Imperial family. Even Letizia looks like taller than them.

The Princes arrive at Tokyo

LA VANGUARDIA - 03/06/2005
The princes of Asturias arrived yesterday at Tokyo, where today they will initiate the official program of their visit. The airplane of the Spanish Air Force in which Don Felipe and Doña Letizia traveled from Madrid landed in the airport of Narita shortly before the 4 of afternoon (the 7 in the morning in Spain), after a flight of more than fifteen hours than it included a technical scale in Moscow. The Japanese capital received them with rain and an immense clogging that retained to the Princes during almost two hours in the accesses to the city. Don Felipe and Doña Letizia will attend the Japan-Spain forum today and, at night, they will be received in the imperial palace by emperors Akihito and Michiko./ M. Alcázar (M.Alcázar is the journalist that works for la vanguardia and she is also there to cover this trip)

The pair traveled in a Airbús of the Air Force that counts on beds (in the photo, to their arrival to Tokyo). In addition, like extraordinary precaution by the pregnancy of Letizia, a doctor accompanies to the princes in this trip Japan.

ACT IN THE EMBASSY

Between the organizers of the diverse anticipated official acts it is counted at any moment on the possibility that the princess cancels some of the activities to which has predicted to attend next to prince Felipe.

The official acts begin today with the participation of the princes in the eighth forum Spain-Japan in the Spanish embassy. Tomorrow Saturday the princes will receive to the Spanish colony in Japan in the Okura Hotel, where they stay themselves and that is to little meters of the Spanish diplomatic seat.

It is predicted that tomorrow they move to Nagoya, probably in train bleats, from where Sunday they will go to the exhibition, where will visit the pavilion of Spain. Naruhito, that went a year ago to the wedding of Felipe and Letizia, is the president of honor of the sample, where already they have been the heirs of Holland and Denmark. JORDI JUSTE
