Will Princess Sayako get to keep her jewels? Also does anyone think that they will cahnge the law allowing her to keep her royal status and duties?

I think she'll keep her jewels but I highly doubt that they'll make a change for her to keep her title as princess. The debate of empress is still an uncertain issue and I doubt Princess Nori will get a debate over her title after marriage.

I have to hand it to her, she's a great example of a modern and independent woman. She went to school and pursued the life she wanted, being a researcher. She waited until she achieved her happiness before getting married.

January 18, 2005: Emperor Akihito and Empress Michiko attended the World Conference on Disaster Reduction in Kobe, Japan. The conference is expected to focus on the creation of a tsunami warning system for countries around the Indian Ocean that were devastated by last month's earthquake-induced disaster.

But,the problem is that child between Princess Aiko and

That is,all emperors must have founder emperor's Y genes.
This rule has not been changed since1600 years or more ago,the age of the myth .
So this is the real reason. I was not aware of this, thanks very much for enlightening us about this, Merampo. Much appreciated :)

Well, I suppose in the past they could have got round this by having Princess Aiko marry a descendent of a junior branch of the imperial family so that her sons (assuming she has any, considering the recent history of the family) have imperial descent on both sides of the family. But these days it's not really realistic to expect that sort of arranged marriage, especially since none of the present emperor's children had to go through such a thing.

Seems a bit strange that nowadays, when we know how genetics work and we know that children get genes from their mother as well as their father, this would still be an issue.

That was my point! It's ridiculous this talk of "dillution" when it's the same "dillution" either way. Imperial women marrying commoner men and their offsprings are no less direct than an imperial man having children with commoner women. Same mixture, same dillution.
