I like the colour of the coat today and particularly like the look of the dress underneath. I am very happy for Catherine to wear previously worn or brand new outfits, just like we all do!

I like her coat very much but am not a fan of the dress... Anyway, she was particularly beautiful today!

The above link contains photos and closeups of Catherine's, The Duchess of Cambridge, ensemble. The dress is lovely and feminine.

I don't buy into 'sending the wrong message'. She's a multi-millionaire royal duchess. Everyone knows Kate is wealthy, so just wear what she likes is my opinion.
The opinion of reporters on Twitter is Kate recycles too much so she can't win
Catherine isn't that wealthy, she's certainly not a multimillionaire. Her husband and father-in-law are. Her family also have money.

A 200 coat is not reasonable for the average pregnant woman surely?! I'm not saying Catherine should portray the average woman but you can't call spending that amount of money on one item reasonable. It's reasonable if your bank balance is 6 figures long. Catherine can spend in in-laws money all she likes and I'm glad she recycles especially when it comes to maternity clothes.

I don't think she can win either way. So she should just do what she's happy with some reuses some new ones.

Compared to a bespoke Alexander McQueen suit, 200 for a coat is reasonable. She has worn hats that cost 3 times that much. If you're a professional working in London where you have to dress in dresses or business suits, a maternity coat like that is something you can afford.

I hate it when people want royals to spend like "regular" people. They're not regular people at all. They're wealthy royalt who's job it is (partially) to promote the fashions of their countries. I have the same problem with those who complain about Princess Mary of Denmark. Part of her job is to live a public life and be a fashionable public person as well. I have my issue with DOC but that's not one of them. I think she should spend what she needs to look appropriate for her job. Wasn't that awful brown dress only 50 British pounds. JMO.

If royals all wore cheap clothes and repeated them. I would soon lose interest in them.

Alright then, Catherine's 200 coat is reasonable for someone who earns 6 figures or married well and lives in a capital city. It is reasonable for pretty much nobody else in the country.

Let me say that I'm not suggesting Catherine go and by a state banquet outfit from New Look. She can spend what she likes on clothes, sometimes the money spent cannot justify the end product but that's down to the designer frankly. Like I said there's not sense in not recycling items of clothing so the fact that Catherine does is great!

With George, she was much smaller in the winter so she could just wear the coats she already had by moving the button at the most. George's little sibling is the opposite, Kate needs the bigger clothes now.

Yes today's coat was a winner for me. Her hair looks particularly glossy and healthy.

I think the take on this is from your position in life. I am a pensioner and I just spent 120 on a 3/4 length coat. It is well made, classic in style and will last me a good 10-15 yrs.

When I was 20-25 I bought the latest thing and expected it to last one season and it was cheap. Covered both bases as far as my ambitions were concerned - fashionable and affordable.

In my thirties, I mixed it up. A few more expensive pieces( including a Burberry that some tow-rage broke into my car and stole !) that would last for yrs and cheaper fashionable "now" pieces.

Maybe this is why I understand her wardrobe choices. She is doing what I did in my 30's.

I love the ensemble. The hints of the colour of the dress did not disappoint. The pale blue of the coat really highlights the darker blues of the dress. This ensemble is the most elegant and yet comfortable looking one she has worn to date.
