I think it's on of those dresses where you either like it or hate it and I like it on Catherine. I don't know, maybe I'm a weird guy but I like watching Catherine express herself and showing her unique taste in style.

Any dress, imo, with a bow in the center of an empire waist is a disaster, unless you are under 12

WhatKateWore pointed out that it appears that the appliques were in bronze, silver and gold colors. I kind of like that actually- it's a nice touch.
I actually kind of liked her look.

Must be a guy thing because I feel the same way. At least TRF moderates their comments somewhat. Head over to the DM, and read the comments from the same people posting here. Makes my skin crawl.

Never, ever read the DM comments. Your faith in humanity takes a serious nosedive after reading some of that stuff. Just assume no one there likes anything Kate does, says, wears, or believes and enjoy the pictures as that's the only thing that the DM does very well.

What gets me is the comments from some people on here (PM me for their names) are restrained somewhat but then they head over to the DM and let loose the vitriol. You'll see a pattern and its pretty sad.

That pretty much covers it. The dress without the additions seems really nice. One of Kate's worst looks for me.

Kate looks great but that dress is awful. I don't want to see it in the future. She has nice legs though.

I want the black sheer dress. I would love to wear it on an interview.

According to this site Duchess Kate: Duchess Kate Joins The Queen at Glittering Team GB Reception Beatrice and Eugenie were at this engagement as well.
If true, it would be interesting to see what they wore. In my view, while Kate's outfit was a miss this evening, it's the first of her outfits to do so.
On the other hand, I've never seen Beatrice and Eugenie wear anything that has ever impressed me.

This is what I take from last night. I also think the earrings/bracelet are an encouraging sign! Yes it's a little too fussy for my taste, but I don't think it is in any way the disaster described in some posts.

This dress is awfull, it is a dress for a woman who is 60 years old and not a young woman who is 30. She must change all her wardrobe, too old.

I like the white version of the dress on the model. It is very pretty, although it does remind me of a nightie. The souped-up version that Kate has is, well, overdecorated.

The dress is nagl. It looks dated, yet I can't find a suitable time period for it. The white version is more tolerable, but barely. She should wear more dresses like the Prabal Gurung she wore on her tour, not this frilly crap.

It is the mid 1960s in style. And not the breakout fun fab part of that period either.

This is a miss. This dress would've been great on a resort.
Kate does not pull off bell sleeves and the dress had not cut which was very unflattering.
