Wow!!!! This is a simply stunning dress that most young women wouldn't be able to carry off (I wonder if even her own daughters would look as good in it).
I think when Queen Silvia steers clear of some of the floral prints like this one, she looks amazing!! she is definitely one of the more glamorous Queens.

Just out of interest, is Queen Silvia, Swedish by birth?

No, I think she is German by birth, her maiden name was Silvia Sommerlath (hope I've spelled that right!) if that helps.

Thank you Layla1971, I thought that maybe she was from a Mediterranean country, as she has quite an olive complexion and such dark hair.

Queen Silvia attended the Bambi-Gala. She wore a red evening dress:

I agree that the dress doesn't look that good on the photos. In TV she looked great! The backview of this dress is beautiful!

Nice colour but the dress is rather shapeless. It probably looked good on the drawing board.

I don't know if it is the right place to post, but the link shows a video (in German) with the red dress of the Bambi Gala - it's on the beginning and a short part at the end.

if it doesn't work you have to click on: Exclusiv: Roter Teppich beim Bambi (it's on the first page)

Josephine, I am starting to suspect you are secretly besotted with the queen... h'mm. I loved the picture of all the European monarchs posed together with Queen Elizabeth on her jubilee. Every single one of the Queens are admirable in their own way, Sylvia of Sweden, Sophie of Spain, Beatrix of the Netherlands, Sonja of Norway, Paola of Belgium, Margerethe of Denmark and lastbut not least HM (sorry, I'm British) the queen of England. As for the men, some of them no comment!

The Queen of Sweden has some marvelous ballgown and gala dresses. The Duchess of Cornwall could learn some much needed fashion advice from her. I also love the pic with all the queens in the front and men in the back. Great Pic.
