Wow, dress is really nice. Hat is nice, but not with the dress. And the cape makes her look 100% Beatrix... Not a horrible look, but maybe something not copied from her mother in laws playbook would be nice :p

The pattern on the dress looks like it should be a test pattern for a camera or for your sanity. It makes me dizzy. And as much as I love the hat, it does not work with the dress, even with the cape (which should be thrown into the canal and never be seen again). Love the pearls!

She could have gone with a nice black cape or coat and a jaunty black or cream fascinator and it would have been a better look I think.

At first I thought of a black cape and black hat but then the overall would be a dark look. Not fond of the cable accessories but since everything else (pumps, hat, gloves and cape) was camel color, then it somehow looks better.

I love the whole of this outfit! Maxima has done what she often does and managed to create a very "Maxima" look with contrasting items one wouldn't normally think to put together. The colours work particularly well without the cape though.

I love the amazing pearls. Queen Máxima and the Duchess of Cornwall are amongst the best jewel wearers. You have 'em, you show 'em! She looks like the Queen and that's what counts.

I like it, my only concern is the colour combination. But everything else is lovely and very elegant, IMO.

I have to say this: She is a wrinkled mess. Nice dress, but lightweight, closely fitted shirtdresses will tend to wrinkle like this. It's down to the cut of a shirt-dress.

I also wish she would find a new hair consultant. She is a beautiful lady, but her hair needs to get healthier and it seems to be not heading in that direction. I feel for her.

I cant see her outfit past that awful hair. She has been busy I know. So buy a nice tie and put it neatly back. The color is greasy looking. Fire your hairdresser!!!!!

When it is about her pet topics, the Orange Fund and sustainable finances then this sort of outfits is to be expected. I also wished she would always and ever dress as The Queen but for some reasons for engagements in this framework, she wants to be "just the lady next door". Also the surrounding decorum then is minimal. She was visiting NIBUD, an institute which helps people worrying about financial planning and/or being in debts. So maybe this was a reflection of the sort of event. I find it awful and messy indeed.

On the Benelux Royal Jewels Message Board Gert-Jan posted this fantastic picture of Queen Máxima in her "zebra dress" but with hat, gloves, diamond-and-pearl earstuds with pearl pendants, pearl collier, diamond brooch with pearl pendant, multi-strand pearl bracelet with diamond clasp, a diamond ring with a central pearl ....

It's such a light-weight material, I think it is better for a holiday in the sun or tea in the garden. Such a contrast from yesterday!

I'm totally in the minority, but I love this look. It definitely fits with the event, and we have to accept that she has fine hair, so of course it's going to be blown about in the slightest wind. But it's clean and healthy and natural, so I don't see the problem.

As far as wrinkles go, they are in the "natural" places--where she sits, at the crook of her elbow, etc. Again, unless she carries a steamer with her, I don't see how this could be avoided.

Duc et Pair! What a great photo. Thank you for posting. This is the first time I have seen her put a drop pearl on her crescent brooch!!! Fantastic!

The dress collar looks like she stuffed a load of spiders legs down her top,but Maxima's hairstyle is much improved on her last event, also nice to see the queen wearing a coat...its still only March.

:previous:

It's not the dress collar, it's a black necklace :flowers:

Here's a pic where you can see it better than on the pics I've posted above:

We can fondly refer to it as the spiders Legs necklace :D

First look- Love it. Elegant.
Second- That necklace is frightening.

The beige outfit is nice and elegant.

not liking the jewelery but the outfit is lovely that's nice color for Queen Maxima.

Máxima attended a lesson for pupils as part of the Money Week 2015 in Amsterdam, today, Mach 13, wearing a black top (maybe silk) and black pants.

I neither like the tucks of the shirt nor the combination with those crease pants.

Maybe its from the the photo's I've seen but it looks to be a very unflattering outfit choice by the queen. Her hair is also a bit untidy looking but it could be a windy day in Amsterdam.

I don't like the pieces together. Separately they'd be nicer.

The overall look is quite messy and so is the hair.

IMO, not a hit!

When it is in the framework of her "pet topics": the Orange Fund and sustainable finances, then the Queen visibly dresses down. She more or less already announced it in the TV-interview before the King's accession to the throne: she would not change that much in her new role and continue with the same activities.

When it is in the framework of her "pet topics": the Orange Fund and sustainable finances, then the Queen visibly dresses down.

When it is "typically a Queen activity" like the opening of the Máxima Canal, or an official visit to Groningen, then it is with hat, gloves, hofdames, escorte and the whole rambam. She clearly makes a difference in the sort of activities.
