I love the shoulder-pads on the second one!

But you're both right, the third has a real touch of class. Not bad for 67!

I dont think Beatrix cares much for fashion and likes to have fun with the "royal" looks. I dont think anyone would were what she does but it is very fun looking at her wardrobe.

She uses her clothes as other people use a uniform. That is why she never changed her hairstyle for example, it is her trademark (and the helmet suits the uniform). When you see her in a room full of people there can be no doubt who is the queen, so in that sense she cares about fasshion.

Another one for your thread BeatrixFan!

http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b1...1/sverige6.jpg

And some more, these pictures are (obviously) of the same outfit. Queen Beatrix wore this outfit to the wedding of her son Prince Constantijn to Laurentien Brinkhorst.

And I just thought the first one was a good example of the Queen's style, and the second one an example of how the media can misinterpret pictures!

The caption for this picture indicates that the Queen was rolling her eyes! Not IMO!

Sorry they're very small, but they're the only pictures that I could find of the diamond and ruby tiara Queen Beatrix is wearing a tiara originally belonging to Queen Emma.

This tiara is part of a parure made by the french jeweller Mellerio, ordered by King Willem III for his second wife Queen Emma. Emma's parure was very complete and consisted of a tiara with six rubies; a necklace with three large ornaments, a devant de corsage (large brooch). a bracelet, earrings and even a fan covered with pearls.

Mellerio made 2 suggestions for this parure; one with rubies and one with sapphires, the ruby parure was chosen and King Willem III gave this as a birthday present for his wife Queen Emma who turned 30 in 1889.

Just after the death of her husband, Queen Emma posed with this tiara, due to the fact that she was still in mourning, the rubies were replaced by diamonds.

After Queen Emma died, Queen Wilhelmina only wore the tiara for special occasions, for example at the jubilee when she was 40 years queen. Queen Juliana loved this tiara and wore it often, she wore the tiara not only as tiara but also as a necklace.

Maybe someone can tell me how to enlarge the pictures without making it blurry?

A good example of the beautiful jewelry the Queen wears.

It seems that her hats becoming more outrageous with the years. Just compare the small pillboxes she wore at her first openings of parlament, to the feathery things she is wearing in recent years!

you're right.
I really like her hats.
does anyone know what she does with all het hats? maybe she will open a Beatrix-Hat-museum one day .

I think it was very brave to wear this hat on Margriet's wedding in 1967, when she was pregnant with Alexander. It looks like a blue octupus.

Post pictures of Queen Beatrix' galadresses here. :)

Beatrix has a very "special " and own style and you can see that quiet well in her collection of Gowns she wore for Galas or State Banquets. :)

Here are a few examples (all from ANP )
