I think she needs a stylist. She seems to have kind personality, but some of her clothes make her seem over the top. Like an outrageous pop star.

Even though my own style is pretty classic, I admire Laurentien for some of the very bold outfits she wears. Not many people have that much confidence to pull of the outfits she does. |

I agree.
Her eclectic style certainly makes her unique among the women in the Dutch Royal Family. |

She is becoming 41, making her much older than Máxima, Mary, Mathilde, Mette-Marit, Märtha-Louise and Metizia.... but she has a very outspoken style laurentinoise
![]() She is a very popular and loved member of the Royal House and after Princess Máxima absolutely the best known in the Netherlands (the other ladies are hardly known, with an exception for Princess Mabel). She is also very important in the Queen's family: she is known to the royal family all her life long (her mother lived with Princess Beatrix when she studied at Leyden University) and her father has had a looooong political career as minister, ambassador and -until recently- vice-premier in the Queen's service. As the eldest and first in-law she is the spider in the web and has spun the three brothers and their respective families together into a strong and almost unbreakable bond. I am happy with her. And her style. Tja... it is Laurentien.... who else? :) Her Royal Highness Princess Laurentien of the Netherlands posing for a portrait. Even the painting at the background and the bouquet tell about her outspoken taste! The picture is from the Royal House. I have uploaded it to my own webspace. ![]() Last edited by Henri M.; 07-30-2006 at 09:20 AM. |

I just think that if you put Laurentien in a "normal" suit that you might see Letizia or Mathilde wearing, it wouldn't be Laurentien anymore. Her personality would radiate through of course, but it would feel like something was missing.

Princess Margriet's daughter-in-laws seem to favour a more low-key, classic style (except possibly Anita who seems to like bold patterns and prints, too). (Though sometimes Marilene's hats make me scratch my head!) |

Most royals are balancing somewhere within safe lines. But Princess Laurentien, with her it is alwas a hit or a total miss, a lady of extremes.
But sometimes she can look extremely stylish. I found the outfit of prinsjesdag 2004 extremely elegant and was impressed by her jewelry (the pearl choker with the large cabochon emerald). Seegerpress uploaded via my webspace. ![]() |

This is a thread for Princess Laurentein's best and worst outfits. I'll start it off with a few...
For her best I have one so far: I love the red color on her but it looks a little too much like Letezia's dress to me. But it's a great dress on her. http://i96.photobucket.com/albums/l1...aurentein3.jpg And for her worst: This thing looks like a really bad shag carpet, yuck http://i96.photobucket.com/albums/l1...aurentein2.jpg There is no excuse for a princess wearing this, even if it is Disco night at the Palace. http://i96.photobucket.com/albums/l1...aurentein1.jpg It's looks like a cacoon with no bra, bad. http://i96.photobucket.com/albums/l1...laurentein.jpg Today at the Prince's Day, without the corset it would have looked okay http://i96.photobucket.com/albums/l1...r/06091919.jpg

Hmmmm, some of her worst....this will be a while.
For starters, the dress she wore to CP Frederik's wedding. Good God almighty. You. Have. To. Wear. A. Bra. I don't know who told her she looked good like that, but whoever they are........they should be fired. Distasteful to say the least. I don't care if you're a princess, a queen or a schoolteacher....you wear a bra. ![]() There just.......are no words. That is awful in ways that haven't been defined in the dictionary yet. It is one of the most offensive-looking outfits I've seen a human being wear. ![]() This looks like curtains wrapped up and stuck in the middle with a giant buckle. The pattern is too busy, the color is ugly, the buckle is ridiculous, the shoes are ugly and that hat.......no. ![]() That ridiculous tweed-looking vest killed this outfit. I liked what was going on underneath the vest, color and pattern-wise and I liked the cut of it as well. The big bell sleeves seem to work for her. But the tweed vest.....oh gross. That hat is pretty freaking ugly too. All pictures credit to: Getty Images

That's my favourite dress of Princess Laurentien:
She wore it for the wedding of Mette-Marit and Haakon in 2001! ![]() source: all over The most terrible one is this blue....... thing... http://img47.imageshack.us/my.php?image=53460597rp9.jpg (getty)

LOL Sister Morphine! I love your commentary. Here are a few of her worst....it's really hard to find her best dresses. But I'll keep searching.
Worst: She looks like a cross between and elf and a ice skater. Bad bad bad. http://i96.photobucket.com/albums/l1...aurentein4.jpg Royal women should not look like country singers. Leave that to the singers. this would have looked better if it was burberry not this discount store/western plaid. http://i96.photobucket.com/albums/l169/tnsngr/pl8.jpg I don't know if this is suppose to be a modern take on a dress but...it just makes me want to throw a sheet over her. http://i96.photobucket.com/albums/l169/tnsngr/pl6.jpg Better: This top is not so good but it looks like she's trying harder so I'll give it to her. http://i96.photobucket.com/albums/l169/tnsngr/pl5.jpg It kinda looks like she's taking inspiration from Maxima here, I like how she somewhat matched the shoes and the purse. It gives me hope for the future. ![]() http://i96.photobucket.com/albums/l169/tnsngr/pl7.jpg

This one is not so bad...but the collar is a little too tall and a little too wide... ![]() I like the color of this dress and the style is nice too, but the hat is very questionable... ![]() ![]() Her wedding dress...not bad! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

We may dislike or like it. Princess Laurentien is an unique lady, a mother of three, in her forties and a very, very popular and beloved Princess with an unmistakenable very personal style.
But even her worst nightmare gowns were all expensive coutures. Look at this: http://img133.imageshack.us/img133/8194/lau21yn.png |
