I loved her whole outfit. She looked really pretty, and the colours suited her well. I even liked the hat. She did really well too, it must've been nervous to get it all right, and she did wonderfully.

Liked her coat, didn't like the hat. It looked as if it was too big and it was placed wrong. I think for at least the next year Meghan will dress more on the conservative side of fashion to play things safe. Diana, Sophie and Catherine have done that.

(..)

I'm still don't like Meghan's hat. The color was okay, it coordinated with her boots but whatever. It was great to see them all for Christmas.

If I wanted to know what she really thought, I would try to read something by her, just a straight reporting job in a magazine or newspaper, not when she is being paid to represent something.
Hmmm, I doubt it. Meghan has previously said that she only becomes involved with projects that she understands something about and that she intends to become hands-on connected with, and not just as a figure head. She said that about her work with the U.N., and indeed about her work with Reitmans. In putting together her two affordable fashion capsule collections, it was a collaboration based on Meghan's style sense and preferences. As far as what she says in the Reitmans video I've posted, I don't see any reason to believe she was completely scripted. She's speaking very freely about how she feels based on how she evolved her own sense of style, particularly after she moved to Toronto and began working on Suits and meeting top designers. Obviously, there was a set of topics they covered in the video that were probably asked of her by the Reitmans fashion crew, but the responses are Meghan's own.

Yep the haircare videos are promotional ads in which Meghan is serving mainly as a model-actor which not only promotes the haircare products, but also Elle magazine, along with Meghan's work in Suits. It's Meghan's high profile on Suits that got her all of those gigs, as well as her savvy and hard work ethic. I'm impressed by her and I've researched a lot that's available, including her own writing, her interviews on Youtube, and the wealth of information about her that was still up on her Instagram last November, as well as her Tig site when it was still available.

There's a difference between the haircare videos and the fashion conversation video. Meghan is mostly serving as a model in the brief haircare clips. She barely speaks. She is receiving tips from the haircare specialists herself, though obviously she mostly prefers to wear her hair down. The updos were strictly for the shoot and to sell the products. The fashion video was promoting her capsule collection obviously, but the collection itself was created as a collaboration with Meghan's own personal style in mind and her hands-on input. So, she was talking authoritatively about what she's learned and how her style sense has evolved.

In one video where she told the hair stylist, "This is what I've always wanted and you've given it to me," Meghan was referring to the straightness of her hair, before the stylist created the structured updo.

Actually, Meghan's hat was not too large or it would have engulfed her whole head . . . I hate to say it but that's the way it was designed to look and I have to admit the more I look at it the better it looks.

The colour was obviously chosen to fit her colour palette and, for the first time serious hat wearer, she really didn't do too bad at all. Better than that, she got an up close and personal look of exactly what they all wear to church and there are several women that are masters of the art to learn from.

But, let's be thankful for what we got, a hat. A real hat and not a very unfascinating fascinator! Which puts me in mind of the next lot of hats we are going to see. Wedding hats and Ascot hats.

I just remembered something. Meghan must really like this coat, because she owns it in green as well. We saw it in one of the paparazzi shot of her getting into a cab in Toronto while her and Harry were still dating. The woman doesn't just have a number of tan coats, she has a lot of coats period. Which as a coat person, I absolutely love it. I often find myself getting drawn into another coat I didn't need because I just love statement coats so much. Her most photographed coat brands to date are probably Sentaler, Line the Label, Mackage, and a couple of Smythe for more long wool/trench coats. In terms of wool coat, I don't think I've seen much repeats from her. For casuals, she tends to stick with Barbour and Soia & Kyo. These tend to get repeats.

This coat in green version.

Right, thanks for finding that same coat she's worn in hunter green. Meghan also sports a number of great jackets:

https://media1.popsugar-assets.com/f...Games-2017.jpg

Ah, and here Meghan is with her hair up in a messy topknot, and wearing a mini flower print b&w dress, black stockings, a black bicycle jacket with plaid and tan scarves. Very cool. I haven't seen this picture before:
https://i.pinimg.com/736x/cd/9b/a6/c...te-outfits.jpg

Another white coat with black trim, from the set of Suits:

A navy coat (tone on tone):

Here's another light colored coat! It's actually one of my favorite photos of Meghan posing with her friend, Markus Anderson, for Thom Browne:

Meghan has worn the above white coat before to a runway show over a white suit.

I think I have at least 30 pairs of black slacks.
Only two of the photos were connected with Suits (the tan vest coat with black buttons, and the photo identified as taken on the set of Suits). All the other photos are of Meghan in her personal life. I'm not sure about the policy of being given clothes from the set. I don't think that tends to happen too often, if at all. I did see a video in which Meghan mentioned coveting her favorite pencil skirt of her character, Rachel.

But yes, there's no way to underestimate how much Meghan's work on Suits changed her life. There have been other fashion-related videos and Suits promos in which Meghan has discussed how her laid-back casual California style evolved after she began working with top designers and stylists on the set of Suits. Her style she said became more sophisticated and pulled together. But she definitely has brought her own edgy, unique fashion sense to everything she does. In one Suits promo, Meghan mentioned that she, the producers and the costume designers for the show decided she would wear all of her own personal jewelry as a way of bringing part of herself to the role.

One of the keys about Meghan in terms of her style and her approach to life, is that she soaks up wisdom and she learns from people around her. She gains something from every teachable moment, and then she applies what she's learned. Also as a Leo, it seems to me that Meghan has a strong personality. She seems to have a passion for life as well as empathy for others. She appears from everything I've learned about her, to have a clear focus on what she wants to achieve (which is half the battle in life). And then above all, she hasn't been afraid to go after her dreams. She's learned not to fear failure, and to continue forging ahead.

She is allowed to do short term borrows. However, I don't think the coats we've seen her in personally are borrowed because I haven't seen the characters on Suits wear it. If they aren't worn by the characters, I'm assuming there is no reason why they would have in the wardrobe department.

Yes, I am not suggesting that Meghan borrowed coats from the set. I was responding to another poster's reference to that possibility. There are at least two, maybe three pictures I posted that are reportedly taken on the Suits set, so whether or not you recognize them as being worn by Meghan's character, is not a definitive indicator. Possibly a couple of pictures are related to a fashion shoot or promo, which could be connected to Suits.

I wonder when or whether Meghan will have a lady-in-waiting to help with her wardrobe and on tours. Meghan's friend and stylist Jessica Mulroney is surely helping her right now. However, since Jessica is based in Canada, I'm sure other style and fashion industry experts will be working with Meghan. She is, of course, already ahead of the game with her own knowledge and experience with fashion and beauty.

I've seen a couple of posters mention they feel Meghan played it safe with her Christmas Day attire. I have to laugh though because there was all the unnecessary brouhaha over the engagement photo couture dress a few days ago when I suppose Meghan didn't "play it safe." And remember when her look at the Invictus Games was deemed too casual? As far as I've seen, IMO Meghan pretty much nails her look every time out. Check out the Reitmans fashion conversation video I posted previously in which Meghan expresses her view of fashion. She says, "Fashion should be fun!" And she advises to not be afraid to try something new or different as long as you feel comfortable and the look is right for you, your body, and for the occasion.

In that respect, I think Meghan has been fairly spot-on. As Meghan said in the fashion advice clip, "You have to go with your gut." Meghan will supplement her gut feelings with the advice she receives, especially re protocol and coordinating wardrobe looks with the other royal ladies, but then she hopefully will also continue to remain true to who she is and to what she likes. Meghan has said that she prefers wearing monochrome looks, and she doesn't normally wear a lot of color. She's kind of classic and laid back with an edge. I've seen her wear a number of coats before in white, cream and beige, so her Christmas Day look is probably comforting to her. I found it classic and stylish, especially with the detailing along the coat sleeves, and I think the hat is perfect. I'm not that enamored of the purse, but it works well with the outfit.

BTW, I'm not intending to dress you or anyone else down with my comments @FashionMaven. I always look forward to reading your thoughtful posts. You add so much to the conversation. Thanks.

Here are views of some of the similar light-colored coats Meghan has enjoyed wearing:

So when I said Meghan played it relatively safe - I wasn’t thinking about the colors she chose - she always chooses colors like that and she’s a tone on tone fan, like me.

I think she played it safe with a more demure hat vs a “sharp” hat. I do like the hat more and more - it’s got a modern flair - but the shape of it was less “sharp” than I wanted to see. But if she’d gone too sharp with the hat she might have faced “you’re upstaging the royals” criticism.

But everything else was true to her style. The purse, the coat, the dress, shoes, colors - totally her style and totally in line with what she usually wears.

Thank you for bringing this up! I love it that Meghan has so many statement coats - I have multiple coats now. Probably not as many as Meghan but at least 10 coats. And I can’t even count how many jackets. I probably need to clean out my closet, lol. Though I wear them all each year. Coats in a range of colors are necessary for tone on tone dressing.

Sometime in 2008-9 or so statement coats were all the fashion mags talked about and I became obsessed with having a ton. Maybe Meghan did too.

The wrong coat can completely destroy a look.

The #MeghanEffect is alive at @sentaler.

They have renamed the wide-collar coat she wore yesterday “The Meghan”

Meghan really knows how to dress for Sandringham - she looks stylish without being overly glamorous or formal. Just right!

They are doing the same thing as Line the Label. I’m just wondering what they would do if she wore another coat in different style? If I were Meghan, I’d mess with them a little by doing that. They can’t have two coats named the Meghan

I find at least some of their commentary makes a couple points.

I think Meghan does, the way she walks/stands etc, at times come across as 'actress-y' but I think in time she will shed some of this.

I do think we are going to see some very discussion worthy clothing choices in the years to come!

I never got the whole 'you stand hollywood' 'pose hollywood' 'dress hollywood'

I don't see anything greatly different about how she stands. Other then some nerves which is highly understandable considering the event and stress. Its a matter of personal style. I don't think she needs to become some Kate clone in stance or even dress, to be the 'proper british princess'.

Meghan looks nice and she's doing her best to fit in, what more can people want. The look that some describe as 'actress-y' comes from being insecure/overwhelmed in the situation because it's new and the eyes of the world are on her, it will go soon once Meghan has adaped to the circus.

I'm rather late with my comments, but I thought Meghan looked lovely on Christmas day - I particularly like the accessories she chose and would have loved to have see what I believe is a burgundy velvet outfit underneath.

I hope Meghan continues with her own fashion choices and won't feel pressured to change anything about it too dramatically. She has her own style and tastes and this adds interest when we see her out and about.
