Muhler - you always make me laugh! Actually, that photo with the group is such a sea of blue suits! And men. Which, on reflection is a boost to the day!

:previous: ;)?

Daniel would feel right at home in that crowd. :D:swedenflag:

:previous: I like the scarf and beanie hat on William. Extra points because they are not blue ;)
Although I find his pants a bit on the tight side
https://pbs.twimg.com/media/DUx1a5WXcAARoDF?format=jpg

Speaking of tight pants, I find Daniel's very tight. There is form fitting and then there's tightness :ermm:
https://pbs.twimg.com/media/DUyeh4-WAAAU34M.jpg

We all knew the Swedish royals would bring nothing but blue ties, so yay for William wearing something that pops a little. I like it
https://pbs.twimg.com/media/DUykL-XX4AEgGT3.jpg

the men with the longer coats, quite nice. again points to William for wearing a small pop of color in his scarf
https://pbs.twimg.com/media/DUy0kycW0AEa2Yx.jpg

Men past a certain age shouldn't wear too tight pants. When we reach middle age, too tight pants change from being heroic-looking to being creepy. :knight::brows: - The same thing applies to long hair.
Permit me to be a little vulgar but truthful. Past a certain age there is a genuine risk of "drip-marks" in front of the pants if they are too tight...

But William is pulling it of well.
Perhaps a little more exciting scarves would be nice. You know you want to, William. ;)

His gloves are a fail though. It's not gloves actually, it's more like mittens! -6 C is nothing, he should try some serious cold.
Daniel wear appropriate and adequate gloves, so he gets a little  from me.

Both gentlemen's coats are nice and practical.

:previous: It looked like Victoria was asking William if he needed a hat for his chrome dome. :D

Daniel and Wills beat out their other halves for fashion tonight IMO. Wills actually had a bit of a shot cuff! And you could tell William was wearing silk (or some other really fine) hose with his velvet slippers tonight. Daniel always looks good in black tie. Thanks heavens. ;)

I like Daniel's fitness and ability to wear a modern suit. And that Wills is now wearing more fitted suit pants - I am elated.

His brown brushed pants however, leave too little to my imagination - sad to say. Needs better tailoring.

I like william’s red hat. He wore it well- and it’s not blue. Looks like there’s a red scarf there too. Lol

His other scarf is nice as well. Got some color to it.

William should look at Daniel here, who pulls it off on five points.
Daniel's tux is buttoned.
His handkerchief is neat, not just stuffed down the pocket.
His shirtsleeves are showing about one inch as is perfect.
His shoes are shining.
His pants has the appropriate length, not too short - like William's... and not too long.
The only minor flaw is Daniel's butterfly, but since butterflys must be tied by hand, minor imperfections are allowed.

So :cool::cool: from me.
While William gets a :ermm:

- But soon we shall feast our eyes at Haakon. :D
William could wear slippers and a lilac hessian tux and still come out on top.

I don't really care about the button...he's not wearing blue!!!

Second day in Sweden for Willian, and I just knew yesterday's outfit was too much color for him :whistling: All blue today :ermm: a college professor look
https://pbs.twimg.com/media/DU3EPN9W4AAihs6?format=jpg
Even the scarf is all blue

One step forward and then two steps back with William.

and the shoes  Maybe he thought Haakon was in Sweden :D

Daniel upped his fashion a little with going with brown. Nice coat but
https://media.gettyimages.com/photo...william-duke-of-cambridge-picture-id912512894

and of course with a blue tie. It looks like this lady wanted to suggest a new color for ties :whistling:
https://pbs.twimg.com/media/DU3iiC2VMAk35yX.jpg

I could definitely copy Daniel's outfit today. Just give me! But of course he could have switched for a burgundy tie.

And very nice to see something else than just the traditional blue/grey/black suites.

Professor? I think he looks like an English country-vicar. :ermm:
A freudian slip perhaps? Perhaps William has always wanted deep inside to be a vicar. Bashing the congregation every Sunday from his pulpit. Strolling among the English country gardens. Sipping afternoon tea with ladies of the local knitting clubs. Offering comfort and kind words. Presenting trophies at the country fair and umpiring the inter-village cricket matches. - Yes! I can actually see him in front of me! William the vicar, he's perfect for that role!
Country vicars are expected to be a little eccentric, it says so in their contracts, so the shabby shoes would be acceptable as well.

And what else do we have here? Daniel is wearing a pretty neat coat.
The shoes, albeit cool in their own right, ruins the look. One should not wear tight-fitting pant-legs if one wear booties. The ruffled look spoils the presentation.
You can almost see the demon sitting on Daniel's left shoulder whispering: "Dress wild, Daniel! Colors, Daniel! You know you want to, Daniel... - Be un-Swedish! Just once".

:previous: The weather is getting colder here in Scandinavia over the next days - a lot colder! :D

Poor William, he's almost wearing heavy skiing-gloves as it is. What will be next?
These mittens perhaps? https://oldiesskriftrulle.files.wordpress.com/2013/12/dscn4640.jpg

And when he enters Norway, he must wear knitted caps like this: https://www.sweatershop.dk/files/collection_2016/2160/444.jpg
That's a requirement for entering Norway in the winter. They hand them out at the border checkpoints.
I can't wait to see William wearing such a knitted cap. :D
Combined with a knitted sweather like this: http://www.hjertegarn.com/files/manager/løs opskrifter/97057.jpg
I had one once, almost died from a heat stroke.
And for the final touch, kamikker: http://www.antikvitet.net/images/apZoom/95021z.jpg
- That should keep him reasonably warm and ensure Daily Mail will write about what William is wearing for a change...

:previous: Ah, Muhler, I have a cap like that that I keep in my emergency kit in the car for when I slide off the road in winter. From too much schnapps. Just where it belongs, waiting to save my life when it is -15F.

And I have a similar (even worse) sock monkey hat that someone gave me when I was completely hairless with chemotherapy. I still love and wear it to shovel snow, however tragic it looks, because it was such a fun gift at such a lousy time.

https://images-na.ssl-images-amazon.com/images/I/51FPKuvaPzL.jpg

Perhaps we should all imagine balding William in a similar sock monkey hat.

 :previous:

A monkey hat? - Hmm, nah vicars wear brimmed hats. And in the summer a straw hat.

Have you tried a balaclava? https://www.fjallraven.dk/media/cat...2ffe127f42dca9de82fb58b1/F/7/F77291-030_1.jpg
William would look... unique though in a balaclava like this: https://img.etsystatic.com/il/a79838/550669488/il_fullxfull.550669488_gdf6.jpg

Ah, Muhler if it's not a beard hat what's the point?

Off topic, but this thread and all of you on it make me laugh so much. Thanks for lifting spirits.

Umm, how can I put this politely? Is the sun over the yardarm Denmark? Now I see a unique opportunity to bring men's hats into fashion with his chrome dome turning a subtle shade of blue, so perhaps a felt Fedora or Trilby NOT a Pork Pie or a Flat Cap! Come summer he's going to need a straw version to protect that chrome dome too.

Note:
1 Williams Dinner shoes ar suede or velvet . . . fortunately not embroidered with gold.
2. His kerchief is perfect (learned from his Pa) although it is not in the uniform lines of the Swedes.
3. You called it right on the cuffs. Both William and Harry have yet to master the art of 'shooting their cuffs'.

Now, now, Ish.

I don't think it's proper to mock the local dress of Narvik in Northern Norway. :ermm:

When Norwegian boys in and around Narvik come of age, that is on their fourteenth birthday, they are presented with such a hat, in Norway called a Skaugum.
Then the father parades his son through the streets of the local community, while all local adult men line up on the sidewalk, shouting: Jukkulala-Jo! Jukkulala-Jo!
At the same time they stomp their right foot hard down on the planks of the sidewalk. - It means bad luck if they use the left foot! So men who don't have a right foot, knock their heads against a wall instead. All buildings around Narvik are made from timber, so no one is hurt. ?
No women are allowed at this coming-of-age ceremony.
The boys will wear their Skaugum until they get married and it is tradition that it is only removed by the bride on their wedding night. Romantic, eh?

Over time, some of the tresses will fall off, they are then replaced by grey tresses, signifying maturity and wisdom. :yoda:
Men who don't wear a Skaugum are considered women and addressed as such.

Should William visit Narvik, he will be presented with a Skaugum and expected to wear it, but Kate can't be present.

I don't think ish meant anything by it. A lot of people wouldn't know that custom

In Canada the toques are quite popular accessory, often as a gag gift. You can buy a pattern to make your own.

https://ashleemarie.com/crochet-bobble-beard-pattern-multiple-sizes/

The trend was patented by a Canadian snowboarder.

Season 6: Beardo - Dragons' Den

Was an attempt at a stylish alternative to 'ski masks' to keep warm on the slopes.

There are different varieties, some with obviously wilder beard varieties.

Now, let's marvel at the current master among royal men. The sensei himself, Prince Charles.

What is not to like here?
Double breasted suit
Perfect length of trouser legs.
Well kept shoes.
Shirtsleeves protruding one inch.
A discreetly naughty tie.
A sassy handkerchief in his pocket.
And finally the cuff links, so many men nowadays pay no attention to the cuff links.
The only thing you could possibly add to this picture would be a lapel pin.
Charles gets :notworthy::notworthy: from me.

I really like the bow tie of the gentleman beside Prince Charles, and there are many royal men who should try wear that one.

:previous: Charles indeed has style. Im not a fan of double breasted suits but they work on Charles. :flowers:

We continue with William, this time in Norway. And something so simple like a red scarf. Baby steps with him
https://media.gettyimages.com/photo...oyal-palace-on-her-way-to-picture-id913008242

Haakon too gets a few points, interesting scarf and he left the ugly brown old shoes at home
http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2018/02/01/11/48CA2FF300000578-5338761-image-a-77_1517484609090.jpg

Haakon also changed to a different coat and scarf later
https://media.gettyimages.com/photo...rince-haakon-catherine-of-picture-id912999708

But his shoes:ermm:, he is still wearing those rubber protectors...I mean really are there no other shoes appropriate for the weather?
http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2018/02/01/15/48CB64CA00000578-5338761-image-a-290_1517500580837.jpg

Taking a break from Norway, Lets head to Denmark and the always stylish Frederik
Simple suit but the tie completes the outfit

And the scarf is not blue. Pranter will be delighted. ;)

I took a look at Haakon's shoes, Nice! Then he kept his galoshes on inside(!!), and I sank into a deep depression once more.

Frederik is doing fine these days, but there orders of magnitudes between him and Prince Charles.

Yes I was delighted! A Cranberry color!!!

To be fair: yes, the Prince of Wales has a style, but it is rapidly becoming very outdated. He has the habit to wear his (undoubtedly arch-expensive and handmade) costumes completely out. This can last one or two decades or maybe longer. That is visible, one can see that a costume is baggy (while the trend is fitted), that it does not look crispy, that the colours or dessins are quite oldfashioned. Suddenly the Prince of Wales (or his father, a great desser as well) become brontosaurs in appearance.

The King of Spain, with the advantage of being tall and fit, dresses very sharply. His suits and pantalons have a sharp cut, his dessins are modern, the shoulders and lapels follow the trend in fashion. Exactly because of the "shabby chic" of the Prince of Wales and the Duke of Edinburgh, they look so completely different in comparison to the King of Spain, by far Europe's very best dressed royal, closely followed by Prince Carl Philip of Sweden.

:previous: The fitted trend will pass.
Few middle aged men will look good in fitted pants. Take a look at the middle aged men around you and ask: Would their legs and not least behinds look good in fitted trousers? ;)
